Frequently Asked Questions - DMW-BCJ13 Watson

How should I charge the Watson DMW-BCJ13 battery?
Before use, charge the battery pack fully. Refer to your camcorder or digital camera manual for specific charging instructions. Use only compatible chargers.
What temperature range is safe for using this battery?
The battery should be used between 15°F (-10°C) and 105°F (40°C). Use outside this range may damage the battery or activate safety circuits.
How should I store the battery for long periods?
For extended storage, charge to approximately 40% capacity. Store in a cool, dry place at 59°F (15°C). Avoid freezer storage. Remove from device if not in use.
What is the warranty coverage for this battery?
Watson provides a one-year limited warranty from the original purchase date, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Can I open the battery case?
No, do not attempt to open the battery case. It contains safety mechanisms and opening could cause injury or fire.
What should I do if the battery gets hot during use?
It is normal for the battery to warm up during charging or use. If it becomes excessively hot, stop use and allow it to cool down.
Why is my battery run time shorter than expected?
Real-life usage like zoom, autofocus, and tape review demands extra power. Stated run times are from lab tests. Shorter run time can also indicate the battery needs replacement.
How do I clean the battery terminals?
Use a clean, soft, dry cloth to wipe the terminals. Avoid liquids or abrasive materials.
Does the battery have protection against short circuits?
Yes, the battery includes an internal self-resetting fuse for short circuit protection, but avoid shorting terminals intentionally.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:

- Charge the battery pack before use. Read your camcorder or digital camera manual for charging instructions.

- When not in use, remove the battery pack from its device and store in a cool, dry place.

- Do not short circuit the terminals. This battery is protected with an internal self-resetting fuse, but short circuits may still cause severe damage to the battery. Be careful where you set the battery down.

• Under no circumstance attempt to open the battery case.
- Do not expose the battery to rain or moisture.

- Keep away from fire. Do not incinerate. Battery may explode in the presence of fire.

- Do not drop battery or expose it to strong shocks.

- Do not use at temperatures below 15°F (-10°C) or above 105°F (40°C). Use of the battery at very high temperatures will activate a safety circuit, disallowing use.

- Running time depends on the power demanded. Stated manufacturer run times are developed in simple laboratory tests of non-stop recording. Real-life use of zoom, automatic focus, tape review, etc., all demand extra power and shorten run time.

TO MAXIMIZE BATTERY PERFORMANCE

• Make sure the battery is fully charged before use.
- Clean the battery and terminals with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
• The battery may be warm during use or recharging. This is normal.
- When storing the battery for an extended period, be sure that it is not completely charged, nor completely discharged.

The ideal level is a 40% charge. This is approximate; the closer the battery is to this level, the better it will hold its charge during storage. The battery should be stored in a cool, dry place. The recommended temperature for storage is 59°F (15°C). You may store a battery in a refrigerator. Do not store batteries in a freezer.

- Remove the battery from your equipment when not in use. Some electronic equipment will draw current even when the switch is off.

- When operation time has noticeably shortened, the battery may need to be replaced.
