IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Before the appliance is used, it must be properly positioned and installed as per the instruction in the Installation section. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury, follow basic precautions including the following:

1. Read all instructions before using the appliance.
2. Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet, do not remove grounding prong, do not use an adapter, and do not use an extension cord.
3. DO NOT place any other household appliances on top of the unit.
4. Replace all panels before operating.
5. It is recommended that a separate circuit, serving only your appliance be provided. Use receptacles that cannot be turned off by a switch or pull chain.
6. Never clean appliance parts with flammable fluids. The fumes can create a fire hazard or explosion. DO NOT store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance. The fumes can create a fire hazard or explosion.
7. Failure to unplug the appliance during cleaning or light bulb replacement could result in electrical shock or personal injury.
8. DO NOT connect or disconnect the plug when your hands are wet.
9. DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. DO NOT repair or replace any part of the refrigerator. Return appliance to SWG Canada for examination, repair or adjustment. See 'Warranty' section.
10. To ensure proper ventilation for your appliance, the front of the unit must be completely unobstructed. Choose a well-ventilated area with temperatures above 55^ F ( 13^ C) and below 90^ F ( 32^ C). This unit must be installed in an area protected from the elements, such as wind, rain, water spray or drips.
11. The appliance should not be located next to ovens, grills or other sources of high heat.
12. If you will not be using the refrigerator for an extended period, unplug it and open the door. Wipe any condensation off after inside reaches room temperature.
13. It is important for the appliance to be leveled to work properly.
14. Never allow children to operate, play with or crawl inside the unit.

15. DO NOT use solvent-based cleaning agents of abrasives on the interior. These cleaners may damage or discolor the interior.

16. DO NOT use this appliance for other than its intended use.

DANGER - RISK OF CHILD ENTRAPMENT

Before disposing of your appliance, ensure that the door(s) are removed. Shelves should also be left in place to help avoid children climbing inside. Never allow a child to operate, play with or climb inside the appliance.

GROUNDED PLUG

To reduce the risk of electric shock this appliance has a grounded plug (2 blades and 1 pin). If the plug does not fit fully into the electrical outlet contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way or use an adaptor.

Use an exclusive wall outlet. Do not connect your refrigerator to extension cords or together with any other appliance in the same wall outlet. If the power cord is too short, have a qualified electrician or service technician install an outlet near the appliance.

BEFORE FIRST USE

1. Remove all packaging and labels. If there is any glue residue rub a small amount of liquid dish soap with your fingers then wipe with warm water. Dry. NOTE: DO NOT use any sharp instruments, rubbing alcohol, flammable fluids or abrasive cleaners to remove tape or glue.

2. Follow the instructions in the 'Care and Cleaning' section.

INSTALLATION

1. Remove all packaging.
2. Let the refrigerator stand upright for approximately 2 hours before plugging in to the power source. This will reduce the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system from handling during transportation.
3. This refrigerator is designed to be free standing. It was not designed for recessed or enclosed area installation.
4. Place your refrigerator on a floor that is strong enough to support the refrigerator when it is fully loaded.
5. Locate the refrigerator away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove, heater, radiator, etc). Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may decrease cooling efficiency.
6. Ensure there is a minimum 20 cm (8") clearance on both sides, 10 cm (4") at the back wall and 30 cm (12") above the unit for proper air circulation.
   NOTE: If you are installing your refrigerator next to a fixed wall, leave sufficient space on the hinge side to allow for the door to swing open.

7. Level the refrigerator by adjusting the legs at the front. Turn the Leg clockwise to raise that side of the refrigerator or turn counterclockwise to lower that side. While adjusting the Legs, have someone push against the top of the refrigerator to take some weight off the front leveling legs.
   NOTE: If the unit is not leveled the door(s) may not close or seal properly causing cooking, frost or moisture problems.

8. DO NOT use in any location not properly insulated or heated, e.g. garage etc. Your refrigerator was not designed to operate in temperatures below 12.8°C (55°F). In extreme cold ambient temperatures the refrigerator will not perform properly. Avoid locating the refrigerator in damp or moist areas. Excessive moisture may cause frost to form quickly on the evaporator. This would require more frequent defrosting of the refrigerator.

9. Make sure all shelves and other parts listed in the 'Description of Parts' section are in place.
10. Once the refrigerator has been plugged in, allow the refrigerator's interior to cool for 2-3 hours before putting food into the compartments.

REVERSING THE DOOR

Your new refrigerator has been built to open from the right; however, it has been designed to open from either side and can easily be changed by following the procedure below. Two persons are recommended. You will need a Philips (+) screwdriver and a putty knife or other thin flat device remove the hinge covers. Use care to prevent scratching the surfaces.

1. Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet and empty everything from the refrigerator door and shelves.
2. Remove the two screws and washer that hold the bottom hinge to the cabinet. Keep screws and washers for later use.
3. Carefully lower the refrigerator door straight down to free the middle hinge pin from the socket on the top of the door and pull forward.
4. Place the door on a padded surface to prevent scratching it.
5. Remove the other leveling leg on the opposite side.
6. Remove the two screws that hold the middle hinge to the cabinet. Keep the screws for later use.
7. Lower the freezer door straight down to unlock the bolt-pins and the countertop from the socket on the top of the door and pull forward.
8. Remove the bolt-pin from the countertop. Keep bolt-pin for later use.

9. Remove the plastic cover and transfer it to the uncovered hole on the opposite side.

10. Replace previously removed bolt-pin into the left side.

11. Re-hang the freezer door in the upper bolt-pin.
12. With freezer door open, replace the middle hinge at the left side.
13. Close the freezer door making sure the door is leveled with the top of the cabinet. Tighten screws holding middle hinge in place.
14. Replace the refrigerator door to the lower pin of the middle hinge and re-hang the bottom of the refrigerator door. Making sure all pins are properly inserted; replace the bottom hinge using the kept two screws and washer.
15. Make sure the door is level.
16. Replace the leveling legs on the bottom of the refrigerator.

HOW TO USE

Setting the Temperature Control Dial

1. The Temperature Control Dial is located on the upper right hand side of the Fresh Food Section.
2. The Freezer Compartment temperature is preset and can not be changed.
3. Set the Temperature Control Dial to "6" for 2-3 hours before filling the refrigerator.
4. The temperature range is from "1" the warmest, to "6" the coldest.
5. After 24 – 48 hours, adjust the temperature to suit your needs. The setting of "4" should be appropriate for most needs.
6. To turn the Refrigerator off, turn the Temperature Control Dial to the "OFF" position. NOTE: This only turns off the cooling cycle – not the power.
7. If the refrigerator is unplugged, turned off, or without power for any reason, DO NOT re-connect for at least five minutes to allow the circuits to reset. Damage may occur if it is re-connected too soon.
8. The inside temperature of the refrigerator will vary depending on the frequency of the door opening and the amount of food.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM SOLUTION

Refrigerator is vibrating. • Ensure that	at the refrigerator is level.
Refrigerator making noise. • Rattling	noise from flow of coolant is normal.• May hear gurgling sounds at end of each cycle from coolant which is normal.• Contraction and expansion of inside walls may cause crackling and popping noises which is normal.• Ensure that the refrigerator is level.• Check that nothing inside is wobbling.• Check that nothing has fallen behind the refrigerator.
Refrigerator door(s) not shutting properly.	• Ensure that the refrigerator is level.• Doors not properly installed after reversing.• Check door gaskets for proper seal Check for blockages .e.g. food containers, crisper cover, shelves, bins, etc.

CARE AND CLEANING

Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning or removing the light bulb. Failure to do so could result in electrical shock and or personal injury.

Changing the Light Bulb

1. Remove items from shelf and slide shelf out.
2. Reach into the opening at the bottom of the thermostat control in the back of the refrigerator and unscrew the bulb.
3. Replace with a 15 watt refrigerator bulb of the same shape and size.
4. Replace shelf and items.

Cleaning the Fresh Food Section

1. Unplug the refrigerator and remove the food and shelves.
2. Wipe the inside of the Refrigerator and the Door Gasket with a cloth or sponge dampened in a warm water and baking soda solution, 30 ml (2 tbsp) baking soda to 1 litre/quart of water.
3. Wash the shelf with mild detergent.
4. The exterior should be cleaned with a soft cloth dampened in mild detergent and warm water.
5. Wring excess water out of the cloth before cleaning any areas that have the controls or electrical parts.
6. DO NOT use abrasive cleansers, which can damage or scratch the finish.
7. Clean Door Gaskets every three months. Gaskets must be kept clean and pliable to assure a proper seal.
8. Occasionally there may be power interruptions due to thunderstorms or other causes. Remove the power cord from the AC outlet when a power outage occurs. When power has been restored, plug power cord back into the AC outlet.
9. For long vacations or absences (over 3 weeks), unplug the refrigerator and empty food. Turn the Temperature Dial to the "OFF" position. Clean the Door gaskets. Prop the door open so air can circulate inside.

Defrosting the Freezer

1. Defrost when the freezer frost exceeds 1 cm (0.4") thick.
2. CAUTION

• DO NOT use boiling water; this could damage the plastic parts.
- DO NOT use sharp or metallic instruments to remove frost as it could damage the cooling coils and may void the warranty. Use only the plastic scraper provided with the refrigerator.

1. Remove frozen food from freezer and keep cold.
2. Turn thermostat dial to "OFF"; then wait 30-40 minutes.
3. Keep drip tray in place, the defrosting process can take a few hours.
4. After defrosting, empty water from drip tray and return the thermostat dial to the previous temperature.

Evaporator Drip Tray

1. The drip tray is located on the top of the compressor in the rear of the unit. It can easily be removed by pulling the handle forward.
2. When replacing the drip tray, insert it horizontally into the holes.
3. If not properly installed, water could enter the compressor causing the refrigerator to not function properly.

HELPFUL HINTS

1. Locate the refrigerator in the coolest area of the room, away from heat producing appliances and out of direct sunlight.
2. Let hot foods cool before putting into refrigerator.
3. Overloading the refrigerator causes the compressor to run longer, and uses more electricity.
4. Reduce door openings and extended searches, remove as many items as required at one time, and close the door as soon as possible.
5. Do not line the vegetable crisper with paper towels, foil or wax paper; this will interfere with cooling making the refrigerator less efficient.

6. Fill the Ice Cube tray and set on bottom of freezer. To remove cubes, turn upside down over ice bucket and twist tray slightly.

7. When moving the refrigerator; remove all food, secure shelves, etc inside and tape doors shut. Turn the leveling screws up to base and make sure the refrigerator stays upright during transportation. Protect exterior against scratches with a blanket.

8. If there is a short power interruption keep both doors closed to help foods stay cold and frozen. If the power will be out for a longer period of time, check food before using. If food has thawed do not refreeze.

LIMITED WARRANTY

SWG Canada warrants that this appliance shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of purchase. During this 'in-warranty' period, defective products will be repaired or replaced at the discretion of the retailer and/or SWG Canada. This warranty covers normal domestic usage and does not cover damage which occurs in shipment or failure which results from alteration, accident, misuse, abuse, glass breakage, neglect, commercial use or improper maintenance.

A defective product should be returned to the original place of purchase within the retailer's stipulated return/exchange period*.
