How do I use the frozen bread function?

Press the carriage lever down, then press the Frozen Bread button. The toaster will adjust the cycle to defrost and toast frozen bread.

Can I cancel toasting mid-cycle?

Yes, press the Cancel button at any time to stop the toasting process. The toast will pop up immediately.

What should I do if the toaster produces smoke?

Unplug the toaster immediately and allow it to cool. Check the crumb tray and clean it if necessary. Excessive crumbs can cause smoke. If the problem persists, contact Swan helpline.

How do I clean the toaster?

Unplug and let cool. Remove the crumb tray from the bottom and discard crumbs. Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution. Do not immerse the toaster in water.

Why won't the carriage lever stay down?

The carriage lever will only stay down if the toaster is connected to the mains supply. Ensure the plug is firmly inserted and the power is on. If it still doesn't stay, contact customer service.

Can I use an extension cord?

It is not recommended. If necessary, use a heavy-duty extension cord rated for at least 13A and never place it where it can be tripped over.

Is the toaster suitable for outdoor use?

No, this toaster is intended for indoor domestic use only. Do not use outdoors or near water.

What does the Bagel setting do?

The Bagel setting adjusts the toasting temperature and time to optimally toast bagels, which are denser than regular bread. Press the carriage lever down, then press the Bagel button.

How should I dispose of the toaster at end of life?

Important Safeguards

How to Use

Before first use

Unpack the toaster and remove all packaging materials etc

Place the toaster on a suitable, level surface.

The 4 slice toaster consists of two independent temperature systems. Each system can be set separately according to taste.

Set the browning dial to 3

Place one or two slices of bread into the toaster slots

Connect the product to the mains supply and press down the carriage lever. NOTE: The carriage lever will only stay down if the product is connected to the mains supply. You can press the cancel button at any time to cancel the toasting process. The toast will pop up when it is ready

THINGS TO NOTE:

On first use, you may notice a slight odour. This is caused evaporation of light oils used in manufacture. This only occurs on the first use and does not affect the taste of your toast.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

The frozen bread setting is perfect for defrosting and toasting frozen bread. To use this function, press the carriage lever down then press the Frozen Bread button.

The Reheat setting is good for reheating toast that may have gone cold. Press the carriage lever down then press the Reheat button

The Bagel setting alters the temperature and cooking time to the optimum required for toasting bagels, which tend to be more dense than regular bread. Press the carriage lever down then press the Bagel button.

Cleaning and Maintainance

This product requires very little maintenance.

The toaster is equipped with a crumb tray which slides out from the bottom of the toaster.

This should be removed and the crumbs discarded after each use.

Excessive build up of crumbs can cause an unpleasant odour and – in extreme cases – pose a fire hazard.

For cleaning external surfaces, a soft cloth moistened with a mild detergent solution is all that is required.

As the colours of the wire in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the colour markings identifying the terminals on your plug, proceed as follows:

The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black.
