Frequently Asked Questions - B-2301 Watson

How do I charge the Watson B-2301 battery pack?
Charge the battery pack before first use. Refer to your camcorder or digital camera manual for specific charging instructions. The battery may become warm during charging, which is normal.
What is the optimal storage condition for the battery?
Store the battery in a cool, dry place at about 15°C (59°F). Ideally, the battery should be at a 40% charge level for long-term storage. Do not store in a freezer.
Can I use the battery in extreme temperatures?
No. The operating temperature range is -10°C to 40°C (15°F to 105°F). Using the battery above 40°C will activate a safety circuit and prevent use.
What should I do if the battery gets wet?
Do not expose the battery to rain or moisture. If it gets wet, dry it carefully with a soft cloth and do not use until completely dry. If moisture gets inside, replace the battery.
Why does the battery run time seem shorter than expected?
Run time depends on power demand. Features like zoom, autofocus, and tape review consume extra power, reducing run time compared to laboratory test conditions.
How can I maximize battery performance?
Fully charge before use. Clean terminals with a dry cloth. Remove battery from device when not in use. Avoid complete discharge or full charge for storage.
What does the warranty cover?
The Watson B-2301 comes with a 1-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal consumer use. It does not cover misuse, alteration, or improper maintenance.
How do I obtain warranty service?
Contact Watson Customer Service to get a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. Ship the defective product with the RMA and proof of purchase; shipping is at your risk and expense.
Is it normal for the battery to be warm during use or charging?
Yes, it is normal for the battery to become warm during use or recharging. If it becomes excessively hot (above 40°C), stop using and let it cool.
Can I disassemble the battery pack?
No. Under no circumstances should you attempt to open the battery case. Doing so may cause damage, short circuits, or injury, and voids the warranty.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:

- Charge the battery pack before use. Read your camcorder or digital camera manual for charging instructions.

- When not in use, remove the battery pack from its device and store in a cool, dry place.

- Do not short circuit the terminals. This battery is protected with an internal self-resetting fuse, but short circuits may still cause severe damage to the battery. Be careful where you set the battery down.

• Under no circumstance attempt to open the battery case.
- Do not expose the battery to rain or moisture.

- Keep away from fire. Do not incinerate. Battery may explode in the presence of fire.

- Do not drop battery or expose it to strong shocks.

- Do not use at temperatures below 15°F (-10°C) or above 105°F (40°C). Use of the battery at very high temperatures will activate a safety circuit, disallowing use.

- Running time depends on the power demanded. Stated manufacturer run times are developed in simple laboratory tests of non-stop recording. Real-life use of zoom, automatic focus, tape review, etc., all demand extra power and shorten run time.

TO MAXIMIZE BATTERY PERFORMANCE

• Make sure the battery is fully charged before use.
- Clean the battery and terminals with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
• The battery may be warm during use on recharging. This is normal.
- When storing the battery for an extended period, be sure that it is not completely charged, nor completely discharged.

The ideal level is a 40% charge. This is approximate; the closer the battery is to this level, the better it will hold its charge during storage. The battery should be stored in a cool, dry place. The recommended temperature for storage is 59°F (15°C). You may store a battery in a refrigerator. Do not store batteries in a freezer.

- Remove the battery from your equipment when not in use. Some electronic equipment will draw current even when the switch is off.

- When operation time has noticeably shortened, the battery may need to be replaced.
