What is the Erica Synths Black Multi?

The Erica Synths Black Multi is a high-accuracy active buffered multiple module for Eurorack synthesizers. It can split one signal into six outputs or two signals into three outputs each, with optional voltage offset.

What are the power requirements?

It consumes +25mA from the +12V rail (typical Eurorack power). No -12V connection is needed.

What is the module width and depth?

The module is 4HP wide and 25mm deep.

How do I use the offset switches?

Each switch adds or subtracts 1V to the CV signal on its channel. This is useful for transposing VCOs by one octave when using 1V/oct tracking.

What is the hidden custom offset?

If you remove a jumper on the back of the module, you can set a user-defined initial bias (0-5V) on the first channel using a trimpot on the front panel. This voltage is added to the output when no input is patched to IN A.

Can I use the Black Multi with audio signals?

Yes, the inputs are DC coupled, so it works with CV, clock, and audio signals.

How many outputs do I get?

You can configure it as a 1x6 multiple (one input to six outputs) or as a 2x3 multiple (two separate inputs, each with three outputs). The second input is normalled to the first output if not used.

Erica Synths Black Stereo Delay Erica Synths Black Multi is highly accurate active buffered 2x1to3 or 1to6 multiple that will work for signal splitting in any circuit, including driving several VCOs in tune from one CV source. "Octave" or +-IV offset switches on both channels allow to add or subtract one volt form each channel thus transposing VCOs one octave up or down. Hidden feature - custom offset - allows to set user defined offset on the first channel.

SWITCH

Switches add or subtract 1V from the incoming CV signal. When patching the outputs to a 1V/oct input of a VCO, you can transpose the VCO for an octave.

INPUTS

Apply signal, you wish to split here! Input is DC coupled, so you can use it for splitting CV, clock or audio signals. This module is actually 2x3 multiple, and second input is normaled to the first output, so if nothing is patched in the second input, you get one signal splitted to 6 outputs, OR if you plug a patchable in INPUT2, you automatically get 2x3 multiple. Each section has its bias switch. The top section of the module has hidden feature – optional initial bias, meaning, if nothing is patched in IN A, the module automatically adds user preset voltage (0...5V) to the output signal. In order to activate it, remove the jumper on the back of the module and use a small screwdriver to access the trimpot at the front panel and set the desired initial bias.

OUTPUTS

On outputs you get 6 or 2x3 identical independent signals – exact copies of input signals or biased ones depending on the setting of the transpose switches.

Water is lethal for most of the electric devices, unless they are made waterproof. This Erica Synths module is NOT intended for use in a humid or wet environment. No liquids or other conducting substances must get into the module. Should this happen, the module should be disconnected from mains power immediately, dried, examined and cleaned by a qualified technician.

Do not expose the module to temperatures above +50°C or below -20°C. If you have transported module in extreme low temperatures, leave it in room temperature for an hour before plugging it in.
