2. Overview

2.1 Introduction

The NEMA-rated Fiber Splice Tray Wallmount Enclosure enables multiple fiber splicing in a NEMA-rated enclosure. Use it to make fiber cabling transition from outside fiber to indoor fiber cabling. This enclosure is a fully-sealed wallmounted box that can support up to 48 fiber splices using two larger fiber splice trays ([1] JPM440A splice tray is already included). Bulk fiber cabling enters and exits the enclosure through a pair of water-tight grommets. The grommets can be adjusted to support bulk fiber cabling from 8-mm up to 17-mm. Inside is a pair of Kevlar® clamps to secure bulk fiber cabling to the enclosure. There is ample room inside the enclosure for cabling management as well as identifying the fiber strands.

3. Installation

  1. Find a flat, smooth surface to mount the NEMA-Rated Fiber Splice Tray Enclosure. You may use the (4) mounting screws (included) or, depending upon the surface, you may need specific hardware for your surface (not included).

Use the supplied wall cutting template to assist in mounting the enclosure to the wall. (See Figure 1.)

NOTE: Make sure you mount the enclosure so the grommet holes are in the downward position.

  1. Pre-run your bulk fiber cabling to the location where you have the NEMA Fiber Splice Tray Enclosure mounted.
  2. Install the (2) grommets (included) to the bottom of the enclosure. Remove the large plastic nut from the grommet and slide the threaded part of the grommet up the hole. Use the plastic nut inside the enclosure to secure the grommet. (See Figure 2).

  1. Feed your pre-run bulk fiber cabling up both of the grommets. Once you have the desired length of cable inside the enclosure, secure the grommets by tightening the plastic nut on the grommet outside the enclosure.

NOTE: Grommets support bulk fiber from 8-mm to 17-mm.

  1. Inside the enclosure, strip back the fiber cable jacket to expose the Kevlar yarn. Use the Kevlar clamps to secure fiber cable to the enclosure. (See Figure 3.)

  1. With the fiber splice tray already pre-installed, remove the two wing nuts and the top cover of the splice tray.
  2. Begin to make your fiber splices inside the enclosure. Continue until all splicing is complete. After all splicing is complete, dress the individual strands of fiber glass inside and attach either your single-mode or multimode splices to the tray.
  3. Replace the cover on the tray, then replace the wing nuts.
  4. Use cable holders and cable ties to organize your work.
  5. Use the identification sticker label to identify your fiber routing.
