How do I descale the Swan SI4050N iron?

Use the self-clean function: fill the tank with water, set iron to max steam, press and hold the self-clean button until steam stops. Repeat if necessary. Alternatively, use a descaling solution.

Can I use tap water in the iron?

Yes, but using distilled or demineralized water is recommended to reduce mineral buildup and extend the iron's life.

What does the anti-drip system do?

The anti-drip system prevents water from leaking out of the soleplate when the iron is not hot enough to produce steam, avoiding stains on clothes.

How does the auto shut-off work?

The iron automatically turns off if left upright for 8 minutes or horizontal on the soleplate for 30 seconds. It beeps and the light flashes. Shake it to reactivate.

Can I iron delicate fabrics like silk with this iron?

Yes, set the temperature to the lowest setting (marked with a dot) and use the dry ironing option. Avoid steam for delicate fabrics.

How to clean the soleplate?

Unplug and let cool. Wipe with a damp cloth. For stubborn residue, use a mixture of vinegar and water on a cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners.

What is the steam surge function?

Steam surge provides an extra burst of steam (up to 150 g/min) to remove stubborn wrinkles. Press the surge button while ironing.

Why is water leaking from the iron?

Possible causes: overfilling, iron not hot enough, or anti-drip system malfunction. Ensure water level is below max, set appropriate temperature, and use the self-clean function.

How do I store the iron after use?

Empty the water tank, let the iron cool completely, then wrap the cord loosely around the heel. Store upright in a dry place.

Is the iron dual voltage?

No, the Swan SI4050N is designed for 220-240 V only. Using it with a different voltage may damage the iron and void warranty.

Spray button

Pressing it instantly produces a powerful spray of water from Spray outlet to remove stubborn wrinkles.

Steam switch

Turning it to select the desired steam output for each garment.

Alternatively select the dry position to iron without steam

Cord bushing

The cord bushing allows free movement of the cord in any direction for greater maneuverability when ironing.

Temperature dial

Turning the dial to set the ironing temperature that is different with the garment changed.

Indicator light

Illuminates to indicate that the iron is heating and goes out when it has reached the temperature selected on the temperature dial.

Heel rest

Heel rest keeps the iron stable on the ironing board.

Tank inlet

Fill water into tank. Make sure the water cannot exceed the Max level as indicated on the tank. The max volume is 250ml water.

Pressing the button provides a fine mist spray to dampen hard-to-iron fabrics.

Remove any stickers, protective foil or storage cover from the soleplate.

Selecting the temperature

1. Check the ironing instructions on the garment to be ironed.
2. If the garment does not have any ironing instructions but you know the kind of fabric in question, use the chart below.
3. Fabrics that have some kind of finish (polishing . wrinkles , contrasts etc) can be ironed at the lowest temperatures.
4. If the fabric contains several kinds of fibres, always select the temperature applicable, if an article contains 60% polyester and 40% cotton, you should always choose the temperature corresponding to polyester and without steam.
5. First classify the articles to be ironed according to the most suitable ironing temperature : wool with wool, cotton with cotton, etc. as the iron heats up faster than it cools, start by ironing the

articles requiring the lowest temperature such as those made of synthetic fibres. Progress towards those that require the highest temperatures.

How to fill the water tank.

1. Unplug the iron.
2. Fill the tank through the tank inlet
3. If you have hard water, it is advisable to use only distilled or demineralized water - do not use chemically de-limed water or perfumed water
4. Do not store the iron with water in the tank.

Steam ironing

1. Fill the iron as described above
2. Plug the iron into the mains.
3. Steam ironing is only possible when the higher temperatures shown on the temperature control are selected. Otherwise water may escape through the soleplate.
4. Wait until the pilot light goes out, which indicates that the selected temperature has been reached.

5. You may need to press the steam shot button a few times to get the steam through.

6. When the ironing is finished and during breaks in ironing place the iron in its upright position.

7. Disconnect the iron from the mains supply. CAUTION: the remaining water in the iron may still be hot so allow the iron to cool first. Pour out any remaining water.

Shot of steam gives extra steam for removing persistent wrinkles.

1. Place the temperature selector at the "max" position and wait until the pilot light goes out
2. Wait for a few seconds for the steam to penetrate the fibre before pressing again.

NOTE : For the best steam quality, do not use more than three successive bursts each time. Several pumping actions are needed to start this function. Excessive use of this feature will cause the iron to cool, ensure that the pilot light is out, before operating the shot of steam control

Cleaning

1. Disconnect the appliance from the mains before cleaning.
2. Do not use solvents or abrasive products to clean the iron
3. Clean with a damp cloth.

Defects and repairs

Do not attempt to replace a defective mains lead. The appliance has to be returned to an authorised service centre for repair.

Faults-reasons and solutions

Iron emits an odor or smoke during first use: Oils used during manufacture need to be burnt off allow ten minutes for odor to disappear.
Iron does not heat: The iron should be plugged into a 230 Volt AC electrical outlet only. The temperature dial must be set at the desired temperature.
Iron does not steam: The water tank many be empty.
Shot-of-steam feature does not work: The water tank should be at least 1/4 full. Temperature must be set to steam position. Prime pump briefly. Allow a short pause between shots. Be sure to fully depress the burst of steam button.
Water from the sole plate: The steam dial must be set to off until the iron is hot. The temperature setting is too low to produce steam. Shot of steam used too much, allow iron to re-heat.

As the colours of the wire in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the colour markings identifying the terminals on your plug, proceed as follows: The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black.
