Frequently Asked Questions - VC-20-SE Magnus

Is the Magnus VC-20-SE compatible with all camcorders?
No, it is designed for ENG camcorders with Canon or Fujinon lenses that have an 8-pin ENG socket. It will not work with consumer camcorders.
How do I mount the controller to the tripod pan handle?
Loosen the clamp knob, place the handle in the V-shaped groove, then hand-tighten the clamp securely. The clamp opens up to 1.25 inches.
How does the zoom speed control work?
The zoom rocker switch is pressure-sensitive. Press harder for faster zoom, press gently for slower zoom. The 'W' side zooms out, the 'T' side zooms in.
What is the purpose of the Return function?
The Return function allows you to review footage and return to the exact stopping point. Set the REC/RET slider to RET and press the red button to go back, preventing a time-code break.
Can I use this controller with Sony camcorders?
Yes, but you need the optional Magnus Accessory Cable AC-ESX for ENG to Sony EX. Set the selector slider to 'C' when using this cable.
What is the cable length of the built-in ENG cable?
The built-in 8-pin ENG cable is 31 inches (78.7 cm) long.
How do I clean and maintain the VC-20-SE?

What is covered under the one-year warranty?

MAGNUS™

Zoom Controller

Thank you for choosing Magnus.

Thank you for choosing the Magnus VC-20-SE Zoom Controller. This lightweight, compact ENG device has a built-in 8-pin ENG cable that gives you control of Record and Zoom functions. The VC-20-SE is compatible with a variety of Canon and Fujinon lenses.

A built-in clamp allows you to mount the VC-20-SE to the pan handle of your tripod or to a jib, tube, pipe, or bar. A pressure-sensitive rocker switch easily regulates the zoom speed—this allows you to maintain control over your camcorder while zooming and panning at the same time without taking your hand off of the pan handle. If you press the zoom switch with more force, the lens will zoom faster. If you press the switch with less force, the lens will zoom more slowly.

A built-in Return switch allows you to review video footage in your camera and then return to the point at which you stopped recording. This can prevent a break in the time-code after reviewing your footage. The VC-20-SE will help you achieve a more polished, fluid look with your video productions.
