USER MANUAL Clark Kelty
The two tent poles are different sizes.
The larger pole goes into the front of the tent.

Take the poles out of the stuff sack and help the shockcord to assemble them.
Caution: It damages the poles if you let the shockcord snap/whack the sections together.
Unroll the tent and spread it out. If it's windy, stake down the end of the tent that will be faced into the wind. Take a tent pole, put it into the sleeve of your choice, torpedo-end first, and feed it in until it fully seats against the closed end, then insert the pole end into the grommet (see diagram). Do the same for the other pole. Pull out the tent and stake it down.

Taking the tent down
Push out tent poles starting from the sleeve's closed end
(Pulling separates the sections in the sleeve)
Pitching the Rainfly
Unroll the rainfly and spread it out over the tent so the vestibule lines up with the tent door. Clip the fly to the tent but don't tighten the webs yet. Stake out the vestibule and the back of the tent. Tighten the fly buckles.

If you pitch the tent in a wind, anchor the tent before you put poles in. To prevent lift-off, use the side pullouts and guyouts. Gear inside a tent won't hold it down in winds of 25mph or more. Many tents have been destroyed by unexpected winds rolling them away with a ton of gear inside! If you've ever wondered: "We put a man on the moon; so how come I can't get a tent stake that'll hold up?" We have a stake for you: our Kelty Nobendium™ tent stakes. They are amazingly strong and durable without weighing any more than a regular stake. We would have
loved to have given you a bunch of these but they cost about $1.50 each so we thought it should be a decision for you to make (rather than forcing the tent price up). Call us and we'll put you in touch with your nearest dealer.

Fire near your tent is a no-no. Your tent can burn. Never cook in your tent or use candles for light inside.
A good trick is to tie a small rock onto the stake loop about a foot away from the tent. Then put a big rock on top of the cord and pull it back against the small rock. This method pulls tents out taut and doesn't lift the tent off the ground as does tying directly to a large rock (far

Most people put the stake well into a tent's stake loop as they pull the tent out and push the stake into the ground. This loses some of the tension you put on the tent. Instead, pull out the stake loop with just the tip of the stake in the loop. This keeps the tent fully taut as you push the stake in the ground. To minimize UV damage from the sun, don't keep tent set up for long periods of time or when not in use.
