How do I set up the Smart-AVI E300 server for the first time?
Connect the power cord and network cables. Press the power button on the front panel. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure BIOS and install your operating system. For detailed steps, refer to the quick start guide.
What operating systems are supported?
The Smart-AVI E300 supports Windows Server, various Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat), and VMware ESXi. Ensure you have the latest drivers from the support page.
How can I access the IPMI remote management?
Connect the dedicated IPMI LAN port to your network. Use the default IP address (usually 192.168.0.100) and login with admin/admin. Change the password upon first login. You can then remotely monitor and control the server via web browser.
What should I do if the server does not power on?
Check that the power cord is securely connected to both the server and a working outlet. Verify that the power supply switch is set to '1'. If using a PDU, ensure it is powered. If the issue persists, try a different power cord or contact support.
How do I install additional hard drives?
Remove the front bezel. Slide the drive tray out, install the 3.5-inch SATA/SAS drive into the tray, secure it with screws, then reinsert the tray until it clicks. Ensure the drive is detected in the BIOS or RAID controller.
Can I upgrade the memory?
Yes, the server supports up to 128GB DDR4 ECC memory. Open the top cover, locate the DIMM slots, and insert compatible modules. Refer to the manual for supported configurations and installation order.
How do I configure RAID?
During boot, press Ctrl+R (for Intel RAID) or Ctrl+C (for LSI) to enter the RAID configuration utility. Create a virtual disk by selecting drives and RAID level (0,1,5,10). Then install the OS on the virtual disk.
What are the recommended maintenance procedures?
Regularly check and clean dust filters. Monitor system logs for errors. Update firmware and drivers periodically. Replace failed drives immediately. Perform a full backup before major updates.
How can I reset the administrator password?
For BIOS password, clear the CMOS jumper on the motherboard. For IPMI password, you may need to contact support to generate a reset key. Alternatively, perform a factory reset via the IPMI web interface.

Capture and stream or record high-definition A/V signals from a media source and create a seamless extension over IP to one or more decoder units

Quick Start Guide

INTRODUCTION

The E300 video distribution over IP solution consists of an E300 encoder and decoders that can extend or record Up to 3840 x 2160 @30Hz video and audio over a standard network at user-defined low bit rates for excellent quality and minimal network bandwidth consumption. The E300 encoder streams or records high-quality video and audio and uses the H.264 video compression standard. It can stream to D300 decoders or any device or PC that supports the required network protocols. It can also record to a shared network or NAS drive.

FEATURES

  • Extend/record Up to 3840 x 2160 @30Hz video and audio
    •H.264 compression for high-quality, low-bandwidth AV-over-IP
  • Support for wide-screen & standard aspect ratios and many resolutions
  • Scale streams before distribution for lower bandwidth consumption
    •HDMI or analog audio support
  • Record up to 1080p@60Hz/1920x1200 to a shared network drive
  • Recorded user-defined file name includes timestamp for easy file management
  • Operates on standard 100/1000Mb Ethernet networks
    •Network bit-rate control (100 Kbps - 25 Mbps)
