How do I set the temperature on my Gaggenau RF200 freezer?

Turn the temperature selector with a coin. Position 1 is the highest temperature, position 7 the lowest. A medium setting (3-4) is recommended.

What is the Super Freeze function and when should I use it?

Super Freeze quickly freezes fresh food to preserve nutrients and flavor. Activate it 4-6 hours before adding large quantities of fresh food. The yellow indicator lights up. Deactivate after about 24 hours.

Why is the red alarm light on and what should I do?

The red alarm indicates the freezer compartment temperature is too high. It can occur when you switch on the appliance, load large amounts of fresh food, or leave the door open too long. Once the temperature drops, the light goes off. If it stays on, check settings or call customer service.

How do I defrost and clean the freezer?

Switch off and unplug. Remove food and place in a cool location. Place ice blocks over food. Remove drawers and let frost melt. Use two pans of hot water to speed up. Clean with water and mild detergent. Dry thoroughly before switching on.

Can I store bottled drinks in the freezer?

No, do not store bottled or canned drinks (especially carbonated) in the freezer. They may explode.

What types of food can I freeze?

Suitable: meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, fruit, cakes, ready meals, leftovers. Not suitable: eggs in shell, sour cream, mayonnaise, green salads, radishes, onions.

How can I save energy with my freezer?

Install in a cool, ventilated room away from direct sunlight. Avoid opening the door for long. Let hot food cool before freezing. Defrost when ice thickens. Use ice blocks to maintain temperature during power failures.

What should I do if the indicator lights don't work?

Check if the appliance is switched on, if there is a power failure, if the domestic fuse has blown, or if the plug is firmly in the socket.

How do I make ice cubes?

Fill the ice tray 3/4 full with water and place it at the bottom of the freezer compartment. To loosen, twist the tray slightly or hold briefly under running water.

• Therefrigerationsystemmaycauseseveralareas of thefreezershelvestofrostquickly. Thisdoesnot affectfunctionorpowerconsumption. The appliance doesnotrequiredefrostinguntiltheentiresurface of thefreezershelfiscoveredwithmorethan5 mm of frostorice.

Blanchingvegetablesandfruit

Toretaincolour, flavour, aroma and vitamin C, vegetables and fruit should be blanched prior to freezing. Blanchingisthebriefimmersion of vegetables and fruit in boiling water. Literature on freezing and blanching is available in bookshops.

Freezefresh, undamaged food only.

Keepfoodwhichistobefrozenawayfromfoodwhichis alreadyfrozen.

Topreventfoodfromlosingitsflavouror dryingout,place inairtightcontainers.

Howtowrapfoodcorrectly:

1. Placethefoodinthewrapping.
2. Pressoutalltheair.
   3.Sealthewrapping.
   4.Labelthewrappingwiththecontentsanddate.

The following products are not suitable for wrapping food:

Wrappingpaper, greaseproofpaper, cellophane, refuse bags and used shopping bags.

Storagedurationofthefrozenfood

Dependsonthetypeoffood.Atameantemperature:

• Fish, sausage, readymeals and cakes and pastries: upto 6 months
• Cheese, poultry and meat: upto 8 months
  •Vegetablesandfruit: upto12months.

Storingfoodintheappliance

Foodwhichisalreadyfrozenmustnotcomeintocontact withthefoodwhichistobefrozen.Ifrequired,movethe frozenfoodtothefreezerdrawers.

Whenfreshfoodisfrozen, the temperature in the freezer compartment can increase to the extent that thered indicator light illuminates.

However, the food which is already frozen is not at risk of thawing. After 24 hours at the latest the set temperature is reached again.
