Frequently Asked Questions - WHD-PRO + I Azden

How do I change frequencies on the WHD-PRO system?
Use the Power/Frequency Selector Switch on both the receiver (WR-PRO) and transmitter (WM-PRO). The switch has three positions: OFF, F1 (169.445 MHz), and F2 (170.245 MHz). Select the quieter frequency to avoid interference.
What batteries does the WHD-PRO system require?
The receiver and transmitter each require one 9-volt battery (not included). The SGM-990 shotgun microphone requires one AAA alkaline battery (not included). Always observe correct polarity.
How long does the battery last?
Under normal use, the system operates continuously for up to 10 hours on one set of batteries. Replace batteries if sound quality degrades.
How do I mount the receiver to a camera?
The WR-PRO receiver has an attached shoe mount for direct camera mounting. Alternatively, use the provided loop and hook fastener. The shoe mount can be removed by unscrewing the Phillips head screw.
How do I use the SGM-990 shotgun microphone with the system?
Insert the 3.5mm stereo output mini-plug into the camera's STEREO EXT. MIC jack. If using a smartphone, connect the HX-i adapter cable between the microphone and the device. Turn the power switch ON and select LONG or SHORT pickup pattern as needed.
What is the HX-i adapter cable for?
The HX-i cable allows connection to smartphones or tablets. Insert the TRRS (4-pin male) end into the device, and the STEREO (3-pin) end connects to either the receiver's output or the SGM-990's output.
How can I troubleshoot poor sound quality?
First, check that both transmitter and receiver are set to the same frequency and that the transmitter’s microphone cord is fully extended (it acts as an antenna). If interference occurs, try the other frequency. If sound remains poor, replace the batteries.
What does the warranty cover?
Azden provides a 2-year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship to the first consumer purchaser. It covers repair or replacement at Azden's discretion. Shipping costs to/from Azden are not covered, and the warranty excludes damage from misuse, abuse, or accidents.
How do I connect the EX-503 lavalier microphone?
Plug the lavalier microphone into the WM-PRO transmitter's MIC jack. Extend the cord fully because it doubles as the transmitter's antenna. Position the microphone on clothing near the speaker's mouth.
Can I use the WHD-PRO system near airports or broadcast stations?
Avoid using the system near broadcast stations, airports, or aircraft, as it may cause interference. If interference occurs, change to the alternate frequency. The system complies with FCC Part 90, and you may need to contact the FCC for filing forms.
