GUARANTEE

FAILURE TO USE AN AUTHORISED SERVICE AGENT OR GENUINE PARTS FOR

INSTALLATION OR SERVICE VOIDS THE GUARANTEE

1. Kelvinator guarantees the equipment against defective material or faulty manufacture, provided it is used for domestic purposes only, for a period of 24(twenty four)months, from the date of purchase by the original retail purchaser. This guarantee only applies to Kelvinator large appliances.

2(a)In the first 6(six) months from date of purchase,for valid guarantee claims,collection,return and installation(Built-in and gas appliances) of the appliance will be free fo charge within South Africa if installed by an authorized Kelvinator service agent.

(b) For the remainder of the guarantee period where the repaired appliance is used or installed more than 50 kilometres from the nearest Kelvinator service agent or elsewhere in South Africa, travel costs to the place of use or installation shall be for the account of the purchaser.

1. This guarantee is given on condition that only labour, parts and accessories supplied by authorised agents are at all times used in connection with the appliance, including the installation thereof, and that an authorised Kelvinator service agent installs and/or services the appliance.

2. Kelvinator shall not be responsible for damage of any kind resulting from electricity fluctuations, faults in the building wiring, faulty installations, and improper use of controls or failure to use the appliance in accordance with the operating instructions and/or general misuse and/or abuse, or if not used for domestic purposes only, or for damage caused by a superior force (vis maior). Any repair or tampering by an unauthorised person or attempt to repair or tamper with the equipment, or use of parts not supplied by authorised agents, or alterations or modification to the equipment, shall render the guarantee null and void.

3. After the first 6 (six) months from the date of purchase, this guarantee does not apply to light buIbs, loose glass, glass oven doors and enamelled surfaces, filters and other parts subject to wear and tear or discolouring, as well as damage caused by abrasive and highly concentrated cleaners and/or cleaning materials or cleaners prohibited by the user manual.

4. Kelvinator shall not be responsible in terms of this guarantee for the replacement or repair of any part of the equipment which may have been damaged in transit if delivery is undertaken by any party other than Kelvinator or an authorised

5. All gas appliances are to be installed by a gas installer, registered with SAQCC GAS. Electrical appliances are to be installed by a qualified electrician who is an authorised service agent or assisted by an authorised service agent from who proof of installation will be required.
6. Repairs carried out under guarantee have a guarantee period of 3(three) months on the parts and labour supplied to repair the unit. Parts removed during guarantee repairs become the property of Kelvinator.
7. After eapiry of 6(six)months from the date of purchase the guarantee shall be available only to the original retail purchaser of Kelvinator domestic appliances from an authorised Kelvinator Dealer or Distributor and only where the appliance has been retained for use in the Republic of South Africa.
8. Failure to produce documentary proof of the date of original acquisition by the original purchaser to Kelvinator or an authorised service agent, will result in normal charges being levied for travel costs, the work carried out and the parts supplied, unless a production date can be proved to be within the 6(six) months preceding the guarantee claim.
9. After 6 (six) months from the date of purchase of the appliance the liability of Kelvinator under this guarantee is limited to the replacement and/or repair of the defective parts within the guarantee period and does not extend to the installation or removal of the appliance.

General

This type of refrigerator is widely used in places such as hotels, offices, student dormitories and houses. It is mostly suitable for refrigerating and preserving foods such as fruits and beverages. It enjoys the advantages of being small in size, lightweight and low electricity consumption and easy to use.

Instructions for Installation

1. Do not tilt the refrigerator for more than 45 degrees of its upright position during moving. Do not apply force on parts such as condenser and door to prevent the refrigerator from deforming, or else it will influence its performance.

2. Let the refrigerator have enough space to work well.

3. Do not install it in high temperatures of humidity, place so as to avoid being damaged, dampened and rusted.

Cautions for Safety

1. Before the refrigerator is plugged in, check that the electricity voltage to be used fits the same as the rated voltage. The power plug should have an independent socket. The adapter may cause the socket to overheat.

2. Do not store flammable materials such as ether, benzene, LP gas and glue etc in the refrigerator.

3. Do not splash water on the refrigerator, it may cause a malfunction or electric shock.

4. When gas leaks from its container, do not pull the plug out or plug it in, it may cause sparks and fire.

Instructions for Use

1. When operating the refrigerator for the first time, run it without loading any food until it is at the desired temperature. Usually it takes 2 or 3 hours, then set the thermostatic dial at the setting desired and put foods in the refrigerator.

2. The temperature of the refrigerator can be adjusted by turning the thermostat dial. A medium setting of the thermostat dial is the most suitable for general operation. Set the thermostat at "6" only when ice cubes are made or frozen food is stored in the freezing compartment.

3. Defrost the freezing compartment whenever the layer of frost on the surface of the evaporator reaches 3 or 4 mm. When defrosting remove all food and ice cube trays and set the thermostat at the "OFF" position. Put the drip tray under the evaporator to collect melted water. After the frost has melted, discard the melted water and dry up the interior of the refrigerator. The refrigerator can then be restarted by turning the thermostat to the desired setting.

4. Instruction for making and removing ice cubes.

Fill water into the ice making case below the graduated line, put it into the freezing compartment, and then set the thermostat at "6". It takes about 2 or 3 hours to make ice cubes. Ice cubes can be removed by twisting the ice making case. Do not cut up and down, otherwise it may be broken.

Cautions for Use

1. The more food stuff put in or the more and longer the door is opened, the more it needs electric consumption, which may lead malfunction.

2. It is best not to place objects which are too heavy, pointed or corrosive on the table board.

3. Re-plugging in the power plug at the interval of over ten minutes.

4. Do not store bottled drink in the freezer, so as to prevent from being broken and damaging the refrigerator.

5. Open the door as little as possible during power-cut.

6. When defrosting, never use any sharp or metallic objects to remove the frost on the surface of the evaporator as it will damage the evaporator.

7. Do not touch foods and containers in the freezing compartment with wet hands to prevent frostbite.

Maintenance

1. While cleaning the refrigerator, pull out the electric power plug, rub carefully with a piece of cloth soaked with natural cleanser then wipe with clean water. The abrasive cleaning power, alkali cleansers, chemical cloth, thinner, alcohol, acid petroleum product and hot water are not suitable for cleaning the refrigerator; they may damage the painting cover and plastics.
2. The door gasket is dirty and fogged easily, so clean it frequently.
3. If the refrigerator is out of use for a long time, please pull out the plug, clean and dry the freezing compartment then close the door tightly.

The following cases are not malfunctions

1. A flowing water sound:
   Flowing water sound will be heard under normal operation.
2. Outside condensation:
   Outside condensation is normal in high humidity condition. You may wipe it up yourself.
3. It takes some time for the temperature of the freezer and refrigerator compartments to become cold after the refrigerator starts to operate: If the temperature of the two compartments is higher while the refrigerator is operating, it takes some time for the temperature of the two compartments to become cold. If the environmental temperature is higher, it takes a long time to make the compartments cold,
4. The surface of the compressor becomes hot:

The surface of the compressor may become hot under normal operation. Do not touch it with your hands.

Methods of inspecting a malfunction

In any case of malfunction, please inspect and dispel it according to the methods shown in the following table.
