USER MANUAL T7010 Speco Technologies
Thank you for your choice of Speco Technologies' T7010 transformer. This unit is ideal for converting 8 Ohms, residential style speakers to a constant voltage 70V format for use in commercial installations. With this accessory, literally any 8 Ohms speaker could potentially be used in a 70V system.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1) The label on the top of the transformer indicates whether those corresponding wires are for use with the 8 Ohms, or speaker, side, and 70V, or amplifier, side.
2) On the 8 Ohms side, there is a red and a black wire. The red wire should be connected to the positive (+) terminal on your speaker. The black, or common, wire should be connected to the negative (-) terminal on your speaker. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS TRANSFORMER SHOULD BE INSTALLED AS CLOSE TO THE SPEAKER AS IS REALISTIC. DISTANCES FURTHER THAN 10' WILL RESULT IN A LOSS OF POWER TO THE SPEAKER.
3) On the 70V side, there are 7 cables of varying colors. The black (leftmost wire) is the negative/common wire and should be connected to the negative/common output on your amplifier. You can connect speaker wire in between your amplifier and your transformer and the distance is not as important as it is on the 8 Ohms side.
4) The power taps range from 10W down to 0.25W. Choose the color cable that corresponds with the desired power, and via speaker wire, connect that to the positive terminal on your amplifier.
5) IMPORTANT: Ensure the total power of all wattage taps selected on all transformers running from this amplifier does not exceed 80% of the rated power of the amplifier. (e.g., if the amp rated power is 100W, do not put more than 80W of speakers on it). Speco Technologies is NOT responsible for damage to equipment due to improper installation.
6) IMPORTANT: Ensure you are wiring the proper voltage. Only use 70V taps with a 70V amplifier, and 25V taps with a 25V amplifier. Speco Technologies is NOT responsible for damage to equipment due to improper installation.
7) If daisy chaining speakers, ensure speakers remain in phase by keeping all the positives wired together and all the negatives wired together.
8) Cutoff bare portion of unused leads and terminate with electrical tape or wire nuts.
