USER MANUAL SafeGrip Belt Clamp InfaSecure
CS102 SAFE GRIP BELT CLAMP
Instructions
The Safe Grip Clamp is for use only with an InfaSecure Child Restraint.
The Safe Grip Belt Clamp is an important accessory for use with booster seats in vehicles with a lap sash belt, and is exclusive to InfaSecure child restraints. It significantly increases the security of your child in a frontal accident. It also assists to create a firmer fitting in forward facing child restraints.
There is a popular misconception that this clamp is used in place of a gated buckle, double T fitting or Exactus clamp, to hold the lap and sash belts together - this is incorrect! This will place a large strain on the Safe Grip Clamp and it will snap.
The Safe Grip Belt Clamp is placed only on the sash part of the vehicle belt, as close as possible to the seat belt buckle tongue.
The correct way to fit the red clamp is as follows.
For a Rear Facing or Forward Facing Child Restraint;
- Feed the adult lap sash seat belt through the belt path opening as per the restraints instruction manual and engage the buckle and tongue assembly. Check the buckle engagement with a gentle pull.
- Push down on the base of the restraint (with knee or hand) whilst pulling the sash section of the adult lap sash seat belt firmly, this will tighten the lap section of the belt across the seat base.
- Whilst continuing to pull the sash section firm, attach the Safe Grip Belt Clamp around the sash section of the seat belt only, as close as possible to the buckle tongue assembly and lock toggle section (2) over barrel section (1) - see figure below.
- Ensure the excess slack in the sash belt is fed back towards the seat belt.
For a Booster Seat;
- Ensure the booster seat as been anchored to the car as per the instruction manual.
- Sit your child in the booster seat, in a comfortable position and make sure they are not slouching and their bottom is as far back in the seat as possible.
- Place the adult lap sash seat belt around the child making sure that any applicable sash guides are used and positioning the lap section of the vehicles lap sash seat belt is across the childs lap and placed under both armrests, then insert the tongue into the buckle assembly.
-
Pull the lap belt tight by first pulling on the lap belt from the secured end towards the buckle then pulling on the sash belt to remove slack, making sure that the lap belt is firm but not uncomfortable for the child.
-
While holding the sash section of the belt tight, attach the Safe Grip Belt Clamp around the sash section of the seat belt only, as close as possible to the buckle tongue assembly and lock toggle section (2) over barrel section (1) - see figure below.
-
Ensure any excess slack in the sash section of the belt has retracted back through the sash guide (if applicable).
What this effectively does is prevent the sash part of the vehicle belt from feeding back through the buckle tongue, keeping the lap part of the vehicle belt tight and secure on your child's thigh/pelvis area.
The Safe Grip Belt Clamp should be discarded if it is involved in a motor vehicle accident.
