How do I measure DC voltage?

Set the rotary switch to the DCV position. Connect the red lead to VΩmA and black lead to COM. Touch the probes to the circuit. Read the voltage on the display. Ensure proper polarity.

What does the continuity buzzer indicate?

When the resistance between the probes is less than about 30 Ω, the buzzer sounds. This indicates a closed circuit or low resistance connection.

How do I replace the battery?

Turn off the meter. Remove the rubber holster and unscrew the back cover. Replace the 9V battery (NEDA 1604). Reattach the cover securely.

The display shows '1' or 'OL', what does it mean?

'1' or 'OL' indicates an overload or out-of-range reading. Select a higher range. If measuring voltage/current, the input may exceed the maximum range.

Can I measure current without breaking the circuit?

No, to measure current, the meter must be connected in series with the circuit. A broken circuit or shunt is required.

What is the maximum voltage I can measure?

The PUN-150 can measure up to 600V DC or AC. Do not exceed this limit to avoid damage or injury.

How do I test a diode?

Set the rotary switch to the diode test position (usually a diode symbol). Connect red lead to anode, black to cathode. The display shows the forward voltage drop (approx. 0.5-0.8V for silicon diodes). Reverse connection shows 'OL'.

Why is the AC voltage reading unstable?

The meter is average-responding but calibrated for RMS. For stable readings, measure a clean sine wave. Noise or distortion can cause fluctuation.

Can I use this meter on car batteries?

Yes, set to DCV 20V or 200V range. Car batteries are typically 12V. Ensure the leads are connected correctly.

What does the fuse protect?

The fuse protects the current measurement circuit. If the meter does not measure current or shows zero, the fuse may be blown. Replace with a 250V 0.2A fast-acting fuse (5x20mm). Use only specified fuse.

- The probe for oscilloscope model PUN-150 is a passive high impedance device designed and calibrated for use with instruments having an input impedance of 1 MOhm with derivation of 20pF , but this can be compensated for use with instruments having a 10 - 30pF capacitive input.

The tip includes a 3 position slide switch which selects attenuation of x1, x10 or a position reference to ground.

MANTENIMIENTO / MAINTANCE

- The head of the probe can be disconnected and separated from the cable with only pull the connector's cable; this allows replacing the cable or head when one is damaged.

Before disassembling your tip, be sure that it is not connected to any voltage source.

- The measuring tip is also replaceable.

- To change a broken tip, unscrew the plastic part that holds the tip and replace with a new one, taking care to align with the internal contact.

To get the right proportion of each division with an oscilloscope, the attenuation network needs to be adjusted. To compensate in your oscilloscope probe you need apply a 1 kHz square wave to the probe or insert the calibration connector in the oscilloscope, show a few cycles of the waveform and adjust the trimmer located on the BNC connector to form a flat crest waveform.
