Ducting Options

The method of ducting should be carefully considered before installing the rangehood. The guide below recommends the ducting components to use for all common ducting configurations - through the top of the home (for the roof and eaves) and through the rear of the home. 150mm round ducting should be used in conjunction with this model rangehood (not supplied). Alternatively, this rangehood can be operated in recirculation mode using carbon filters (part number CARBONFTLDEEU).

Extra lengths and/or bends may be required, depending on the length required and whether there is any structural material in the run e.g. rafters.

Please note that this chart is designed as a guide. Please consult Robinhood customer services if unsure.

Before drilling any holes check that the area behind the surface to be drilled is clear of any electrical cables, pipes etc. The cabinet must take a weight bearing of at least 40kgs weight. Whenever possible protect the Rangelood with a fabric sheet or similar.

When installing the rangehood, the lower edge of the unit must be a minimum of 650mm above hotplates.

650mm - 800mm

Notes: If the instructions for the cooktop specify a greater distance, this has to be taken into account. Any installation above 750mm will compromise performance.

Installation

Installation Instructions

  • The rangehood must be installed at the correct distance above the cooktop (650mm minimum, 750mm recommended maximum).
    • Measure up from the top of the cooktop the desired height & draw a horizontal line.
  • From this line, measure up 350mm (RHWC60X, RHWC90X, RHWC60TB & RHWC90TB) or 360mm (RHWC60TG & RHWC90TG) and draw a second horizontal line for the main mounting screws.
    • Mark the centre point on this line and mark the screw positions 120mm either side.
  • For a brick or concrete wall, drill in the two holes 40mm deep.
  • Fit the wall plugs and screw in the two supplied 40mm screws (leaving the head \~5mm proud of the wall).
  • Lift the rangehood onto the screws and check for strength.
  • Mark up the position of the single stabilising screw (RHWC60TG & RHWC90TG), or two stabilising screws (RHWC60X, RHWC90X, RHWC60TB & RHWC90TB) and remove the rangehood from the wall mounting screws.
  • Drill the hole(s) and add the wall plug(s).
  • Remount the rangehood onto the wall and use the extra 40mm screw(s) to attach the bottom of the rangehood to the wall.
  • Tighten all screws fully.
    • Fit the ducting to the outlet and secure in place with the supplied 4mm screws.

*Flexible or semi-rigid ducting pipe can be used, however, Robinhood strongly recommend the use of semi-rigid ducting wherever is possible. We offer a full range of semi-rigid ducting solutions under the Uniduct brand, for more information please visit www.robinhood.co.nz

  • Lift the inner chimney to the ceiling and mark the position of the edges (close to the ceiling).
    • Lower the chimney and place the chimney bracket up to the ceiling centred between the marks.
    • Mark the centre of the slots, drill the two holes, add the wall plugs and attach the bracket to the wall.
  • Place the power plug close to the socket, extend the ducting pipe out, raise the chimney to the bracket and attach with the two 7mm screws.
  • Check that the rangehood is secured.
  • Clip the oil cup into the slot underneath the motor. (The oil cup can be found in User Manual's bag).
  • Refit the filters and connect to the power supply.

If the wall is not brick or concrete, an alternate mounting method must be determined.

Note: if the air is recirculated back into the room, charcoal filters must be used (part number CARBONFTLDEEU: check availability before installation is commenced).

The power level is determined by the area pressed (to the left, low, to the right, high, in 4 steps). The fan is turned off by pressing the on/off delay icon twice.

Fan Speed 4 is a designated intensive function for maximum air movement during times of heavy fumes/smoke. It will run continuously for 3 minutes before automatically returning to Speed 3.

Timer

When the exhaust fan is in use, pressing the on/off delay icon once will set up a 3 minute delay, after which the appliance will return to stand-by mode. NOTE: if the lights are on, these will turn off as well, but the function will not work if only the lights are on.

Cleaning and maintenance

General Maintenance

Switch off the rangehood before cleaning or maintenance.

To prevent surface damage never use abrasive or oil based liquid cleaners. To clean the surfaces of the appliance, use mild detergent and warm water. In areas of high humidity and coastal environments cleaning should be carried out frequently.
Warning: a build-up of oil may occur if the undermount rangehood is not cleaned regularly.

Filter Maintenance

To maintain efficiency, the filters should be removed regularly (approximately monthly), and washed using hot soapy water or the dishwasher.

Some discolouration of the filter frame may occur if washed in the dishwasher.

Rangehoods fitted with charcoal filters are designed to remove grease and odours from cooking vapours prior to the cleansed air re-entering the kitchen (when the rangehood is in recirculation mode). Charcoal filters should be replaced every two to four months depending on use. Fit by first disconnecting the rangehood from the power source and then removing the aluminium filters. Place the carbon filters on the sides of the range hood motor, twist clockwise to fix in place (anti-clockwise to remove old filters), replace the aluminium filters and reconnect to power.

Robinhood RHWC60TG - Filter Maintenance - 1

natural_image Technical line drawing of a mechanical fan or motor with no visible text or symbols

Fully saturated charcoal filters can become a barrier to air movement therefore limiting rangehood performance. In the event of fire, grease laden filters could be flammable and therefore regular replacement is recommended. In ducted installations, conventional aluminium filters are recommended.

Removal of Filters

To remove the aluminium filters, push in the latch at the handle, lower the filter down and remove. To install, repeat the operation in reverse.

RHWC90TB & RHWC90X have 3 filters. RHWC90TG & RHWC60TG; RHWC60TB & RHWC60X have 2 filters.

Replacement of LED Lamps

The LED lamps cannot be replaced by the consumer. If any faults occur, please ring your nearest Service Department.
