If your BALAY 3KUF233S refrigerator has the light and fan on but is not cooling, here are the checks to perform in order:
Check the internal thermostat
The thermostat controls the compressor. Turn the temperature setting knob located inside the refrigerator to position 3 or 4. If you left it at position 1 (minimum), the compressor will not operate even if the light and fan continue. A setting that is too low completely prevents cooling.
Inspect the door seal
A worn or dirty seal allows cold air to escape. Check that the door closes completely without gaps and that the rubber of the seal is not damaged or stuck. If food has stained the seal, clean it with warm water.
Clean the ventilation grilles and the condenser
Dirt blocks heat exchange. Unplug the appliance, then clean the ventilation grilles at the front (at the bottom) and the condenser coils visible at the back. A soft brush or a low-power vacuum cleaner is sufficient.
Check the space and stability
Leave at least 10 cm of free space all around the appliance, especially at the back. Ensure that the refrigerator is level on a flat and solid floor. A lack of space or an incline reduces air circulation and cooling.
If the problem persists
If these checks do not resolve the issue, the compressor or refrigerant circuit may be faulty. Contact an authorized Balay service center. Replacement spare parts are available for up to 10 years after purchase.
