How do I fill the water tank?

Unplug the device. Open the water tank cap and fill with demineralized water up to the max mark. Do not exceed the maximum capacity. Close the cap securely.

How long does it take to heat up?

The Philips GC512 heats up in approximately 45 seconds. The ready indicator light will turn on when steam is available.

Can I use tap water?

It is recommended to use demineralized or distilled water to prevent scale buildup. Tap water can be used in a pinch but will require more frequent descaling.

How do I descale the steam cleaner?

Mix a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar. Fill the tank, heat as usual, and let steam out for a few minutes. Then rinse with clean water. Descaling every 3 months is recommended.

What surfaces can I clean with the GC512?

The steam cleaner is safe for sealed hard surfaces like ceramic tiles, sealed granite, stainless steel, and glass. Do not use on unsealed wood, waxed floors, or delicate fabrics.

How do I attach accessories?

Slide the desired accessory onto the nozzle until it clicks into place. To remove, press the release button and pull off. Common accessories include a concentrator nozzle and a brush.

Why is steam not coming out?

Check if the water tank is empty. Ensure the device is fully heated (indicator light on). If still no steam, there may be a blockage in the nozzle. Clean the nozzle with a pin or descale the unit.

Is the steam cleaner safe for children?

The device has a child lock feature to prevent accidental activation. However, always keep out of reach of children and never leave the unit unattended when hot.

How do I clean the steam cleaner itself?

Multiple steam settings are provided to save water and energy. You can increase the steam setting for more steam power at any point of time. The appliance is safe to use on all fabrics at any setting.

Note: The steam supply hose becomes warm during steaming. This is normal.

Put the glove on the hand you are using to hold a garment. The glove protects your hand against the steam from the steamer head.

Caution: Do not attach or detach the brush/pleat maker while the steam is on or the steamer head is hot.

To maintain optimal steam performance and prolong the lifetime of the appliance, it is important to remove scales and impurities inside the appliance regularly. Therefore, it is recommended to perform the de-calc process at least once a month. Before you start de-calc process, make sure there is some water in the water tank.

Note: Clean the appliance and wipe any deposits off the steamer head with a damp cloth and non-abrasive liquid cleaning agent. Always empty the water tank after usage, to prevent calc build-up and maintain good steam performance.

- When you have finished steaming, clean the appliance, fill or empty the water tank, perform cleaning and rinsing, attach or detach the brush attachment (if the brush is available for this model), or leave the appliance even for a short while, switch off the appliance and remove the mains plug from the wall socket.

- Make sure that the steamer has been unplugged for at least 1 hour and has completely cooled down, before you use De-Calc function (if the function is available).
