How do I preheat the CRUX DKFD-60L dehydrator?

Press the power button, then set the desired temperature using the + and - buttons. The unit will preheat automatically. It is recommended to preheat for 5 minutes before loading food.

What is the maximum temperature for drying meat jerky?

For safe meat jerky, set the temperature to 165°F (74°C) to ensure bacteria are killed. Use a meat thermometer to verify internal temperature.

Can I dehydrate herbs without wilting them?

Yes, dry herbs at the lowest temperature setting (95°F/35°C) to preserve flavor and color. Check after 1-2 hours.

How do I clean the trays and the unit?

Remove the trays and wash them in warm soapy water or place them on the top rack of a dishwasher. Wipe the main unit with a damp cloth; never immerse in water.

What can I do if the dehydrator is not heating?

Is it safe to leave the dehydrator running overnight?

Yes, the unit has an auto shut-off timer and overheat protection. Set the timer up to 24 hours; the unit will turn off automatically when done.

Can I add more trays to increase capacity?

The DKFD-60L comes with 6 trays. Additional matching trays may be purchased separately from CRUX to stack up to 12 trays, but ensure proper airflow.

Why are my foods not drying evenly?

ANALOG CONNECTION:

HOW TO DETERMINE IF THE VEHICLE HAS ANALOG SWC:

Analog Steering Wheel Control (SWC) signal vehicles will have wires populated and line up to the PINK and BLACK wire on the 24-Pin Crux connector.

If one wire is missing then you will need to use Crux part number SWRFD-60.

3.5MM SWC CABLE

Plug in the 3.5MM to 4-Pin SWC cable to the SWC module.

NOTE: Insulate the Blue/Yellow and Green wires if not being used.

For aftermarket radios that have wires for SWC connections, cut off the 3.5mm plug on the Crux SWC Cable (option B) and connect the SWC wires as follows:

Note that there are some radios that only have SWC1 and SWC2, in this case "shield" does not need to be connected.
