Important Safeguards For Your Kambrook Captiv11V Lithium-ion Portable Handvac

  • Carefully read all instructions before operating the portable handvac for the first time and save for future reference.
  • Remove and safely discard any packaging materials and promotional labels before using the portable handvac for the first time.
  • This portable handvac is intended for household use only and not for commercial or industrial use.
    • Always ensure the portable handvac is properly assembled before use. Follow the instructions provided in this book.
  • Do not use without the dust container and filter in place. Always clean the dust canister and filter after picking up any perishable food items.
  • Use only the provided accessories, filter and charger with this portable handvac.
  • Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches or hot ash, with the portable handvac.
  • Avoid picking up hard, sharp objects as they may damage the dust canister and/or the filter.

  • Do not use the portable handvac to pick up flammable or poisonous liquids such as petrol, copier toner or other volatile substances. Do not use to pick up acids, asbestos or asbestos dust.

  • The portable handvac is not designed to pick up liquids. Do not use the portable handvac to pick up any kind of liquid, including water. Dry use only.
  • Do not operate in the presence of explosives and/or flammable fumes or liquids.
  • Do not unplug the charger by pulling on the cord.
  • Never carry the charger or charging base by the cord or yank to disconnect from an outlet; instead grasp the charger and pull to disconnect. Do not pull the cord around sharp edges or corners.
  • Do not immerse the portable handvac, charger, cord or charging base in water or any other liquid.
  • Use only the charger supplied with this portable handvac to recharge this product.

  • Ensure that the power switch on the portable handvac is turned to the OFF position before charging.

  • Do not attempt to use the charger with any other product.
  • The use of an extension cord is not recommended. Only plug the charger into the standard electrical outlet (230V or 240V outlet).
  • Never handle the charger or handvac with wet hands.
  • Do not put any objects into any openings, Do not use with any opening blocked. Keep free of dust, lint, hair, or anything that may reduce airflow.
  • Do not operate with a damaged charger, cord or charging base, or after the portable handvac has malfunctioned or been damage in any manner. Immediately cease use of the portable handvac and return the entire unit to the nearest authorised Kambrook Service Centre for examination, adjustment or repair.

  • Before first use, the portable handvac must be charged for at least 24 hours. Ensure that the power switch on the portable handvac is turned to the OFF position before charging otherwise the portable handvac will not charge.

  • Any maintenance other than cleaning the dust canister and filters should be performed at an authorised Kambrook Service Centre.
  • Dirty and clogged filters may result in reduced suction performance. It is recommended that filters are cleaned after every use to ensure maximum efficiency for your portable handvac. If filters are left unclean, it may result in reduction of suction power. Follow the cleaning instructions provided in this book.

Important Safeguards for All Electrical Appliances

• Fully unwind the power cord before use.
- Connect only to a 230V or 240V power outlet.
- Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of a bench or table, touch hot surfaces or become knotted.
• To protect against electric shock, do not immerse the power cord, power plug or housing in water or any other liquid.
- The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- It is recommended to regularly inspect the appliance. To avoid a hazard, do not use the appliance if the power cord, power plug or appliance becomes damaged in any way.

Operating Your Kambrook Portable Handvac

Before First Use

Remove any packaging material or promotional stickers from the portable handvac before first use. Ensure that you have all parts and accessories as specified before throwing away any packaging.

WARNING: Before first use, charge your portable handvac for at least 24 hours. Ensure that the power switch on the handvac is in the OFF position before charging otherwise the portable handvac will not charge.

Mounting the Wall Bracket

The charging base can be wall-mounted or placed on a flat surface. When properly mounted, the portable handvac will sit vertically with the suction end facing upwards and both accessories stored on either side of the base (Fig. 1).

To mount the charging base:

  1. Choose a convenient position on the wall that is within reach of a power point and has sufficient room above for the portable handvac to stand and slide in and out of base.
  2. Using a drill (not included), drill a 5mm hole in the wall. Drill a second hole 85mm directly below the first hole. Insert the wall anchors into the drilled holes.
  3. Insert the screws into the wall anchors.
  4. Align the screws with the openings on the back of the charging base. Slide the base onto the screws and allow to lock into place (Fig.2)

NOTE: Ensure the charging base is mounted on the wall so that the portable handvac is pointing vertically when attached (Fig.1).

Operating Your Kambrook Portable Handvac

Charging the Battery

  1. Plug the charger into a 230V or 240V power outlet and switch the outlet on.
  2. Ensure that the portable handvac is switched to the OFF position before inserting the portable handvac into the charging base.
  3. Hold the portable handvac vertically with the indicator light facing outwards. Slide the portable handvac down onto the charging base, ensuring the charging pin fits securely into the charger socket positioned on the end of the handle (Fig.3)
  4. The indicator light will illuminate red when the portable handvac is charging. For a full re-charge, allow 5 hours.

Operating the Portable Handvac

This portable handvac is only designed to pick up dry debris such as dirt, dust, pet hair and food crumbs. It is suitable for use on counters, floors, rugs, carpet, car interiors and upholstery.

WARNING: Care should be taken when using the portable handvac on surfaces that may scratch. Use the brush tool and hold the handvac lightly above the surface to avoid scratching.

WARNING: The portable handvac is not designed to pick up liquids. Do not use the handvac to pick up any kinds of liquids. Attempting to pick up liquids will damage internal components causing the portable handvac to stop functioning properly.

Operating Your Kambrook Portable Handvac

Once the portable handvac is fully charged, the indicator light will illuminate green.

Remove the portable handvac by lifting it up and out of the charger (Fig 4).

To start vacuuming, slide the power switch to the desired power setting (low for light cleaning or high for heavier debris) and point the vacuum to the area that requires cleaning. When operating, the indicator light will illuminate green until the battery runs out of charge.

NOTE: The battery will run out of charge sooner when using the high setting.

Once vacuuming is complete, slide the power switch back to the OFF position.

Empty the dust canister, clean the filter and reassemble the portable handvac before replacing it onto the charging base (See 'Emptying the Dust Canister' on page 10).

NOTE: Switch the vacuum to the OFF position between cleaning tasks to conserve power and prolong the battery life.

NOTE: The vacuum will automatically switch off when the battery is depleted and the indicator light will illuminate red. Switch the vacuum to the OFF position and place the vacuum on the charging base to charge. Do not use the vacuum when the battery is flat.

Using the Accessories

The portable handvac comes with two attachments to assist with cleaning:

  • Crevice tool: ideal for hard to reach places like corners, skirting boards and crevices.
    • Brush accessory: ideal for upholstery, carpet and rugs.

The cleaning attachments store neatly on either side of the charging base (Fig 5).

To use the accessories, slide into the suction hole of the handvac until secure before switching on the portable handvac.

Care, Cleaning and Storage

Emptying & Cleaning the Dust Canister and Filter

Always switch the portable handvac to the OFF position before emptying the dust canister.

For optimum performance, empty the dust canister after every use, especially if used for picking up food scraps and crumbs.

  1. Hold the handle of the portable handvac in one hand and the dust canister in the other.
  2. Use your thumb to press the EMPTY button and gently pull the canister away from the motor body (Fig 6)

  1. Always hold the dust canister vertically with the nozzle pointed downwards to avoid any spillage. The filter and filter holder inside the dust canister must be removed before emptying.

  2. Using your thumb and index finger, pull the filter at the tab outwards away from the filter holder (Fig 7).

  1. Next, remove the filter holder from the dust canister by pulling firmly on the tab at the top of the cover and sliding straight out (Fig.8).

  1. Tip the dust canister into the rubbish bin, lightly tapping the sides if necessary to dislodge any debris. Remove any dust and particles from the filter into the bin.

  2. If required, wash the dust canister, filter holder and filter with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly before reassembling.

NOTE: Ensure the dust canister, filter holder and filter are completely dry before reassembling.

NOTE: Do not use any detergents or boiling water to wash the filter. Do not wash the filter in a dishwasher or washing machine.

  1. Replace the filter holder back into the dust canister, ensuring the narrower side and tab are positioned at the top of the canister. Push until securely inserted. (Fig 9)

  1. Slide the filter back into the filter holder. The filter rests in the filter holder, it will not lock or clip into place.
  2. Align the notch on the base of the motor body with the opening on the base of the dust canister. Attach these parts then push together the top of the motor and the top of the dust canister until secured.

If you encounter reduced suction performance:

  • Check the dust capacity in the dust canister and empty if full.
  • Check the filter and filter holder; clean if required. Any clogging in the filter will reduce the efficiency of the portable handvac.
  • Recharge the battery if it is getting low.

Cleaning and Storage

To clean the exterior of the portable handvac, wipe with a soft damp cloth. Do not use any abrasive cleaners.

To clean the crevice tool and brush accessory, rinse in warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly before storing or use. Store the accessories on the charging base.

To store, place the portable handvac into the charging base, ensuring the portable handvac is switched off.
