Frequently Asked Questions - Hurricane 1101 Chauvet

What type of fog fluid should I use with the Hurricane 1101?
Only use CHAUVET water-based fog fluid. Do not add alcohol, perfume, gasoline or other flammables. Using incorrect fluid may cause clogging or damage.
How do I operate the fog machine manually?
Press the Manual button located on the rear of the unit. The fog will output as long as the button is held. Alternatively, connect the included FC-M controller and press its button.
What does the orange indicator LED mean?
The orange LED indicates that the pump is not detecting fluid. Refill the tank with fog fluid. The machine may still output fog briefly for a self-check cycle.
How do I replace the fuse?
Disconnect the product from power. Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, unscrew the fuse holder cap. Remove the blown fuse and replace with a fuse of the same type and rating (F 8A 250V for 120V models, F 5A 250V for 230V models). Screw the cap back and reconnect power.
How often should I clean the fog machine?
Clean the machine every 40 hours of continuous operation using CHAUVET Fog Cleaner Quart (FCQ). Follow the procedure in the manual: drain fluid, add cleaning solution, run until nearly empty, then refill with fog fluid.
Can I use the Hurricane 1101 outdoors?
No. This product is for indoor use only (IP20). Exposure to rain or moisture may cause fire or shock. Do not operate outdoors.
Why is the machine making a loud noise and not outputting fog?
This usually indicates low or no fluid in the tank. Refill with fog fluid. If the pump protection system is engaged, release the manual fog button and press it again to reset.
What is the minimum distance I should keep from the nozzle?
Keep a minimum distance of 6.5 ft (2 m) from the nozzle to any person or object. The fog exits at a very high temperature and the nozzle remains hot for a long time after operation.
How should I store the fog machine when not in use?
Before storage, clean the system with FCQ (steps 1-5), but do not refill with fog fluid. Leave the tank empty. Test-run the machine monthly to maintain performance.
What is included in the box?
The box contains the Hurricane 1101 fog machine, a Manual Fog Controller (FC-M), a hanging bracket with mounting hardware, a warranty card, and a quick reference guide.

Note: The Hurricane™ 1101 may output fog for a short duration to allow for a self-checking cycle.

5. TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Fogger Maintenance

Do not allow the fogger to become clogged. After every 40 hours of continuous operation, use CHAUVET® Fog Cleaner Quart (FCQ) through the system to prevent the accumulation of particulate matter in the heating element.

The recommended cleaning procedure is as follows.

  1. Unplug the product from power.
  2. Empty all fog fluid from the machine.
  3. Add cleaning solution to the tank.
  4. Connect the product to power and allow it to warm up.
  5. Run the unit in a well-ventilated area until the tank is almost empty. Do not allow the pump to run dry.
  6. Refill with fogger fluid to continue using the fogger. Run the machine briefly to clear any remaining cleaning solution from the pump and heater.

Chauvet Hurricane 1101 - Fogger Maintenance - 1

Do Not operate the machine without fluid at any time.

Chauvet Hurricane 1101 - Fogger Maintenance - 2

Fog Cleaner Quart (FCQ) was specifically developed by Chauvet to clean your Hurricane™ 1101. Make sure you use FCQ regularly, no longer than 90 days between cleanings, to increase the life of your product.

Storage

Before storing the fogger, run FCQ through the system as described in the cleaning procedure above; however, only follow steps 1 through 5. Do not refill the tank with fog fluid if storing the fogger. Cleaning the system prior to storage will help prevent any particles from condensing inside the pump or heater while not in use.

Chauvet Hurricane 1101 - Storage - 1

Test-run your Hurricane™ 1101 on a monthly basis to achieve the best performance.
