Frequently Asked Questions - MLB820 N'oveen

How do I use the N'oveen MLB820 thermal kettle?
Fill the kettle with water (minimum 0.5 L), close the lid, place on the base, plug in, and select a desired temperature or press the boil button. The kettle will heat and then keep the water at the set temperature. Always use the auto shut-off feature for safety.
What is the water capacity and can I boil less than 1.7 L?
The maximum capacity is 1.7 L. For proper operation, the minimum water level is 0.5 L. Boiling less than 0.5 L may trigger the boil-dry protection and damage the heating element.
How do I clean and descale the kettle?
Unplug and let cool. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. For descaling, fill with a mixture of 50% white vinegar and 50% water, boil, let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Alternatively, use citric acid. Descale every 1-2 months to maintain performance.
Can I adjust the keep-warm temperature?
Yes, the MLB820 allows you to set temperatures from 40°C to 100°C in 10°C increments. Simply press the temperature setting button until the desired temperature is displayed. The kettle will maintain that temperature for up to 12 hours.
Is the lid removable for cleaning?
The lid is hinged and can be opened fully but is not completely removable. You can clean it by tilting it back and wiping with a damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, refer to the manual for disassembly instructions.
Why is my kettle not heating?
Check if the kettle is properly seated on the base and the power cord is connected. If the auto shut-off engaged, let the kettle cool down and press the reset button (if applicable). Also ensure the water level is above the minimum mark to avoid boil-dry protection.
Can I use the kettle for heating other liquids like milk or soup?
No, this kettle is designed for water only. Heating milk, soup, or other liquids can cause residue build-up, clog the filter, and damage the heating element. It may also void the warranty.
How long does it take to boil a full pot of water?
With 1500 W power, boiling a full 1.7 L of water takes approximately 5-7 minutes. The keep-warm function activates automatically after boiling to maintain the desired temperature.
What does the indicator light mean?
A steady light indicates the kettle is heating or in keep-warm mode. A blinking light typically means the selected temperature has been reached and the kettle is maintaining it. Refer to the manual for specific light patterns.
Is the kettle cord storage feature?
Yes, the base has a cord wrap underneath to store excess cord length. Simply wind the cord around the base until the length suits your countertop setup.
