Frequently Asked Questions - ACAC75017 APC

How do I replace the battery in my APC ACAC75017?
To replace the battery, power off the UPS and unplug it. Open the front panel (usually by pressing tabs). Disconnect the battery wires and remove the old battery. Install a new APC RBC6 replacement battery cartridge, reconnect wires, and close the panel. Charge for 6 hours before use.
Why is my UPS beeping continuously?
Continuous beeping indicates the battery is low or the UPS is on battery power. Check if the main power is out. If power is present, the battery may need replacement. A rapid beep often means overload – reduce connected load.
Can I connect a laser printer to the UPS?
It is not recommended to connect a laser printer to the battery backup outlets because printers draw high surge current. Use the surge-only outlets if available, or avoid connecting them to the UPS entirely.
What is the runtime of the ACAC75017?
Runtime depends on load. At half load (225 W), expect about 15 minutes. At full load (450 W), runtime is typically 3-5 minutes. Actual runtime may vary with battery age.
How do I connect the UPS to my computer?
Use the included USB cable to connect the UPS to your computer. Install APC PowerChute software (if not pre-installed) for automatic shutdown and monitoring.
What does the 'Building Wiring Fault' indicator mean?
This indicates a wiring problem in your wall outlet, such as missing ground or reversed polarity. Contact a qualified electrician to check the outlet. The UPS will still provide battery backup, but surge protection may be reduced.
How often should I test the UPS?
APC recommends testing the UPS every 3 months. Press the test button (or use PowerChute) to perform a self-test. If the test fails, the battery may need replacement.
Can I mount the ACAC75017 in a rack?
This model is a tower UPS and is not designed for rack mounting. If you need a rackmount UPS, consider the APC SRT or SMX series.
What is the warranty period for the ACAC75017?
The standard warranty is 3 years from the date of purchase. The battery has a 2-year warranty. Register your product on APC's website to extend warranty coverage.
How do I dispose of the old battery?
Sealed lead-acid batteries are recyclable. Take the old battery to a local recycling center or return it to an APC authorized partner. Do not throw it in household trash.
