SETUP & PREPARATION

1. ASSEMBLY

WARNING!: ENSURE THE TOOL IS SWITCHED OFF AND THE BATTERY DISCONNECTED BEFORE FORMING ANY OF THE FOLLOWING TASKS.

Fitting the Additional Handle

1. Unscrew the two knobs on the handle and separate the handle from the bracket.
2. Place the top half in position and secure in place with the bracket on the underside and the two knobs.
3. Tighten the two knobs to hold the additional handle in position.

Note: To adjust the position, simple loosen the two knobs sufficiently to allow handle adjustment into the desired position, then tighten the two knobs to secure in place.

Adjusting the Working Height

For transport reasons the Main Handle is at 90^ to the brush housing. To ensure that you have a comfortable working position, the main handle must be aligned with the brush housing and the length of the Telescopic Shaft can be adjusted.

1. Turn the Lock Nut anti-clockwise to loosen and turn the Main Handle 90° into alignment with the brush housing.

1. To change the working height, extended the Telescopic Shaft to the desired height and then retighten the Lock Nut by turning it clockwise.

2. CLEANING BRUSHES

WARNING: THE SURFACES MUST BE SUITABLE FOR CLEANING USING ROTATING BRUSHES. FOR WETANING THE SURFACES MUST ALSO BE INSENSITIVE WATER.

WARNING!: SENSITIVE, POLISHED, COATED AND SCRATCH-SENSITIVE SURFACES CAN BECOME GHENED AND/OR GET DAMAGED. THIS EQUIPMENT IS NOT BE USED TO CLEAN SUCH SURFACES.

WARNING!: THERE IS A RISK OF INJURY FROM THE BRISTLES - WEAR SAFETY GLOVES.

Use only the brush which is intended to be used for the surface you want to clean. Test the brush for suitability on an inconspicuous area first before using it each time. Different brushes for different surfaces are available as separate accessories. Only use water without any additives whatsoever.

Note: Worn or frayed brushes should be replaced in good time. Replace the brush as soon as its diameter is less than approx. 95 mm. A brush diameter of any less can lead to damage.

• Medium Nylon Brush - Black

This brush is specifically suitable for cleaning unsealed paver and stone surfaces. It can therefore also be used for cleaning surfaces which are paved with paving stones/concrete blocks or concreted surfaces (e.g. driveways, decks, paths). The side brush can be used for cleaning perimeters and bases. Diameter: 115mm. Working width: 215mm

Cleaning smooth, unsealed paver and stone surfaces

• Brush in a forward direction only, standard direction of rotation.
• In case of certain kinds of stubborn dirt, it can be helpful to clean using both directions of rotation. Please note that when the equipment is in reverse, it has less power.
• To clean perimeters and bases, remove the wide side cover and clean them using the side brush.
  • Afterwards, rinse the cleaned surface down with water.

- Soft Nylon Brush - Yellow/Green

This brush also be used for cleaning wood, composite materials such as Bamboo Plastic Composite (BPC) and Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) or for brushing (e.g. flattened areas) artificial turf to raise it upright, as used in the home where it is installed, for example, on balconies or decks. Diameter: 115mm. Working width: 195mm

Cleaning wood, composite materials(BPC/WPC)

• Always clean the boards or wooden elements in a longitudinal direction (along the grain).
• Brush in a forward direction only, standard direction of rotation.
• It is recommended that you clean on a board-by-board basis.
• Afterwards, rinse the cleaned surface down with water.

Brushing artificial turf

• Do not use water - dry-brush only.
• Brush in a forward direction only, standard direction of rotation.
• Remove all leaves, rubbish and similar before starting brushing.

- Ultra Metal Brush (accessory)

This brush can be used for cleaning robust surfaces such as, e.g. paving stones/ concrete blocks, concreted surfaces, granite or porphyry to remove stubborn dirt.

• Brush in a forward direction only, standard direction of rotation.

Fitting and Removing the Cleaning Brushes

1. Remove Brush Covers from each end of the brush housing.

1. The Medium Nylon Brush (black) is supplied with a side brush. Each of the brushes have Rubber Caps on the outside.

1. Slot the nylon brush with side brush onto the brush mount on either the left or right side according to your requirements and the other nylon brush onto the other brush mount.

1. Attach the brush covers back in place. The wider brush cover is used with the Medium Nylon Brush with the side brush.

2. The Soft Nylon Brush (yellow/green) and the Ultra Metal Brush is fitted the same way, but do not have a side brush. In this case both narrow brush covers must be used.

1. To remove brushes, first remove both Brush Covers on the sides. Press the middle of the Rubber Caps to release and pull the brush to remove at the same time.

3. PREPARATION

Water Inlet Connector

To achieve top cleaning results quickly, use wet cleaning. Hose not included.

This Surface Brush requires a pressurised water source with a maximum pressure of 87 psi (6 bar). It is recommended that a reinforced garden hose (with minimum diameter of 12mm) is used for the inlet connection. It cannot be used with a bucket and siphon.

1. Run water through your garden hose to remove any foreign matter before attaching to the water inlet.

Note: Do not use water that is dirty, gritty or contains any chemical products, as these could impair operation and shorten the life of the Surface Brush.

1. Pass a water hose (minimum ∅13mm (½"), through the Additional Handle and attach to the Water Inlet Connector on the unit. Secure the hose to the Telescopic Shaft with provided Hose Clip.

Note: Always use a reinforced hose with a standard hose coupling for water inlet.

Water Control Valve

The Water Control Valve can be fitted on the Water Inlet Connector before attaching your hose. The Water Control Valve can be opened or in the closed position as required to control the flow of water to the cleaning brush.

Inserting & Removing the Battery

1. Align the ribs of the battery with the battery mount and slide in until it clicks into place

4. CONTROLS

Direction Lever

Using the Direction Lever you can select the direction of rotation of the cleaning brush and lock it so that it cannot be switched on accidentally. You can select between forward and reverse rotation. Forward is the standard direction of rotation, with which the unit has the most power.

Note: Hold the Surface Brush firmly by the handle and additional handle and make sure you have a steady standing position.

Note: To avoid causing damage to the Surface Brush, the direction of rotation must only be changed when the cleaning brush is at a standstill.

1. Forward - standard direction of rotation: Push Direction Lever hard left. The Surface Brush pulls away from you.
2. Safety Lock-off: Direction Lever in the middle position. On/Off Trigger locked.
3. Reverse: Push Direction Lever hard right. The Surface Brush moves towards you.

Switching On and Off

WARNING!: KEEP YOUR HANDS AND FEET AWAY FROM THE ROTATING CLEANING BRUSH.

1. To switch ON, squeeze the On/Off Trigger, the cleaning brush will rotate.

2. To stop the cleaning brush rotating, release the On/Off Trigger.

Variable Speed Dial

To adjust the speed of the cleaning brush, rotate the variable speed dial. This allows the speed to be adjusted to the particular surface being cleaned.

The dial is marked MIN = slowest \ MAX = highest. "1" to "5". setting to indicate the set speed.

5. USING THE SURFACE BRUSH

• Inspect the brushes to check them for dirt before you start your cleaning work and clean them if necessary.
• Carry out a test run on a small area which is not very visible to check that brushing does not damage the surface.
• Only use by guiding it over the ground in a vertical position, it should not be used in a horizontal position (e.g. walls) or overhead (e.g. ceiling). It must not be used for unmade/unpaved surfaces (e.g. grass pavers).

WARNING! ALWAYS WEAR ADEQUATE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WHEN OPERATING SURFACE BRUSH TO AVOID INJURIES TO E, EYES, HANDS, FEET AND HEARING.

Cleaning in General (Not artificial turf)

1. Hold the Surface Brush firmly with both hands, ensure the brush is evenly on the surface.
2. Set the working height to the one which is most comfortable for you (see Adjusting the Working Height). The Splash Guard must just clear the ground on both sides.
3. Select the correct direction of rotation (see Direction Lever) for the surface you want to clean (observe Cleaning Brushes section 2).
4. To achieve top cleaning results quickly, we recommend wet cleaning. Open the water inlet.
5. Lift the equipment 1-2 centimetres and switch on the Surface Brush (see Switching On and Off).
6. Set the desired speed (from slow to fast) (see Variable Speed Dial). Wait until the full speed has been reached and then place the brush on the surface to be cleaned.
7. Guide the brush slowly and in lines, similar to a broom, over the surface. Only apply a small amount of pressure at first and then increase it little by little.

Brushing Artificial Turf

1. Place the Soft Nylon Brush evenly on the surface.
2. Set the working height to the one which is most comfortable for you (see Adjusting the Working Height). The Splash Guard must just clear the ground on both sides.
3. Push Direction Lever hard left. (standard direction of rotation).
4. Lift the equipment 1-2 centimetres and switch on the Surface Brush (see Switching On and Off).
5. Set the desired speed (from slow to fast) (see Variable Speed Dial). Wait until the full speed has been reached and then place the brush on the artificial turf. The Surface Brush will pull away from you.
6. To raise the fibres upright, brush against the direction of the fibres of the artificial turf once the desired speed has been reached. Do not exert any pressure.
7. If required, draw the brush towards you and let it roll away without pressure.
8. Repeat this movement until the desired result has been achieved.

Overload protection

When the Surface Brush is overloaded, e.g by pressing too strongly, the Surface Brush switches off automatically and must be switched on again by squeezing the On/Off Trigger.

Cleaning, maintenance and storing

Cleaning

• Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it down with compressed air at low pressure.
• We recommend cleaning the equipment immediately each time after use.
• Clean the equipment regularly with a damp cloth. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these may be aggressive to the plastic parts in the equipment. Ensure that no water can get into the interior of the equipment. The ingress of water into an battery power tool increases the risk of an electric shock.
• Remove the safety guard and remove any deposits using a brush.

Maintenance

- There are no other parts inside the equipment which require maintenance

Storage

Store the equipment and its accessories in a dark and dry place at above freezing temperature. The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 30 °C. Store the electric equipment in its original packaging.

Do not bend the rubber lips of the splash guard outwards. Store the equipment in such a way that the rubber lips are not in contact with the floor/ground as far as possible.

Note: Ozito Industries will not be responsible for any damage or injuries caused by the repair of the Surface Brush by an unauthorised person or by mishandling of the blower vac. This tool is designed for DIY use - use in commercial or industrial environments will void the warranty.

Battery protection system

The tool is equipped with the battery protection system, which helps to ensure a long service life.

The output power automatically cuts off during operation when the tool and/or battery are placed under the following situations:

- When the tool is overloaded:

If this occurs, turn off and remove causes of overload, then turn on again to restart.

- When the remaining battery capacity becomes low:

Recharge the battery pack.

Note: The battery protection system does not in any way damage the tool.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

WARNING! When using mains-powered tools, basic safety precautions, including the following, should always be followed to reduce risk of fire, electric shock, personal injury and material damage.

Read the whole manual carefully and make sure you know how to switch the tool off in an emergency, before operating the tool.

Save these instructions and other documents supplied with this tool for future reference.

Before you connect the charger to the mains supply make sure that, the data on the rating plate are identical to the mains data. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an electrician or a power tool repairer in order to avoid a hazard. The power supply for this products charger should be protected by a residual current device (rated at 30mA or loss). A residual current device reduces the risk of electric shock.

GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS

WARNING! Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

1. Work area safety

a. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

2. Electrical safety

a. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed [grounded] power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.

b. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.

c. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

d. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.

e. When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

3. Personal safety

a. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.

b. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

c. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

d. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.

e. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

f. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

g. If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

4. Power tool use and care

a. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

1. Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

f. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

g. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation

5 Battery tool use and care

a. Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.

b. Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.

The most common cause of exhaustive discharge is long-term storage and continued use of low-charge batteries. Always store the battery with some charge. Charge the batteries every 2-3 months to restore charge. Stop working as soon as the performance of the battery falls noticeably or the electronic protection system triggers.
7. Protect batteries and the tool from overloads. Overloads will quickly result in overheating and cell damage inside the battery housing without this overheating being apparent externally.
8. Avoid damage and shocks. Do not use batteries which have been dropped from a height of more than one meter or strong external impact, even if the housing of the battery pack appears to be undamaged. The battery cells inside the battery may have suffered serious damage.
9. If the battery pack suffers overloading and overheating, the integrated protective cut-off will switch off the equipment. Do not press the ON/OFF switch on the tool if the protective cut-off has actuated. This may damage the battery pack. Allow the battery to cool to room temperature before use.

CHARGING YOUR LITHIUM ION BATTERY

This battery has been shipped in a low charge condition, and requires charging prior to use. Allow several cycles of charging and discharging (through use with a compatible tool) for the battery to reach its optimum performance / runtime.

This battery is compatible with chargers from the 18V Ozito Power X Change range available through your local Bunnings Warehouse. Product availability may differ.

1. Insert the power plug of the charger into the mains socket outlet. The green LED will begin to flash when properly connected to power supply.
2. Insert the battery pack into the battery charger
3. Remove battery from the charger once fully charged. Disconnect the charger from the power supply.

Note: The battery pack can become a little warm during the charging. This is normal.

If the battery pack fails to charge, check:

if there is voltage at the socket outlet that the battery and charger are properly connected.

If the battery pack still fails to charge, please contact our customer service center.

BATTERY PROTECTION SYSTEM

The tool is equipped with a battery protection system, which helps to ensure longevity of the battery.

The output power automatically cuts off during operation when the tool and/or battery are placed under the following situations:

• When the tool is overloaded:
  If this occurs, release the trigger switch and remove causes of overload, then pull the switch trigger again to restart.
• When the remaining battery capacity becomes low:
  Recharge the battery pack.

Note: The battery protection system does not in any way damage the tool.

Mounting The Charging Unit On A Wall

The charging unit can be mounted to a wall or workbench. The correct dimensions for drill holes can be found on the back of the charging unit; a template for the mounting hole locations can also be found on the Ozito website.

Note: When mounting on a wall you must use suitable screws, e.g.M3 pan-head screws, in order to prevent damage to the housing and risk of falling.

Generally you will be responsible for all costs associated with a claim under this warranty, however, where you have suffered any additional direct loss as a result of a defective product you may be able to claim such expenses by contacting our customer service helpline above.

36 MONTH REPLACEMENT WARRANTY

Your product is guaranteed for a period of 36 months from the original date of purchase and is intended for DIY (Do It Yourself) use only. If a product is defective it will be replaced in accordance with the terms of this warranty. Warranty excludes consumable parts.

WARNING

The following actions will result in the warranty being void.

• If the tool has been operated on a supply voltage other than that specified on the tool.
• If the tool shows signs of damage or defects caused by or resulting from abuse, accidents or alterations.
• Failure to perform maintenance as set out within the instruction manual.
• If the tool is disassembled or tampered with in any way.
