Frequently Asked Questions - AK-H1208C02 LG

How often should I clean the air filter?
Clean the air filter every two weeks under normal usage. A dirty filter reduces cooling efficiency and air quality. Wash with mild detergent and dry thoroughly before reinstalling.
What does error code E1 mean on my LG AC?
Error E1 typically indicates a indoor unit temperature sensor fault. Turn off the unit, wait 10 minutes, and restart. If the error persists, contact a qualified technician.
Can I install the air conditioner myself?
Professional installation is strongly recommended. Improper installation can cause refrigerant leaks, poor performance, and void the warranty. Hire a certified HVAC technician.
What is the recommended room size for this model?
The 12000 BTU/h capacity is suitable for rooms of 400 to 550 sq ft (37-51 m²). Actual performance depends on insulation, sunlight, and number of occupants.
How do I use the timer function?
Press the Timer button on the remote control. Use the +/- buttons to set the desired off time. The unit will automatically turn off after the set duration. You can also set an on timer for delayed start.
Why is my AC not cooling enough?
Check if the air filter is dirty, the thermostat is set correctly, and doors/windows are closed. Also ensure the outdoor unit has proper airflow. If the problem continues, call a technician for refrigerant check.
What refrigerant does this model use?
This unit uses R32 refrigerant, which is more environmentally friendly than R410A. It has lower global warming potential and higher energy efficiency.
How do I operate the unit in dry mode?
Press the Mode button repeatedly until the dry mode icon (water drop) appears. The unit will run at low fan speed to dehumidify without overcooling. It's ideal for rainy or humid days.
What does the self-diagnosis function do?
The self-diagnosis system monitors key components. If a fault is detected, the indoor unit's LED will blink in a specific pattern. Refer to the manual to decode the error or contact support.
Is this AC compatible with smart home systems?
This model is not Wi-Fi enabled by default. However, you can use a universal smart AC controller (sold separately) to add smart control via smartphone apps like Google Home or Alexa.

Care and Maintenance

LG AK-H1208C02 - Care and Maintenance - 1

CAUTION

Before performing any maintenance, turn off the main power to the system.

You can do some of the periodic maintenance for your unit yourself; this includes cleaning air filters, cleaning the unit cabinet, clearing the condenser coil, and conducting a general unit inspection on a regular basis.

LG AK-H1208C02 - CAUTION - 1

WARNING

Before removing access panels to service the unit, disconnect the power supply. Failure to disconnect power before attempting any servicing can result in severe injury or death.

This product has anti-bacteria washable filters. It is very important to keep air filters clean in the central duct system. Be sure to inspect them at least once each month when the system is in constant operation. (In new buildings, check the filters every week for the first 4 weeks.)

Washable type filters can be cleaned by washing with a mild detergent and water. Ensure that the filters are thoroughly dried before reinstalling them in the unit (or duct system).

Unfiltered air circulates through the unit's condenser coil and can cause the coil's surface to become clogged with dust, dirt, etc. To clean the coil, vertically (i.e., along the fins) stroke the coil surface with a soft bristled brush.

Keep all vegetation away from the condenser coil area.

Maintenance Performed by Serviceman-Cooling Season

To keep your unit operating safely and efficiently, the manufacturer recommends that a qualified serviceman check the entire system at least once each year, or more frequently if conditions warrant. Your serviceman may examine these areas of your unit:

  1. Filters (for cleaning)
  2. Motors and drive system components
  3. Condenser coils (for cleaning)
  4. Safety controls (for mechanical cleaning)
  5. Electrical components and wiring (for possible replacement or connection tightness)
  6. Condensate drain (for cleaning)
  7. Inspect the unit duct connections to ensure they are physically sound and sealed to the unit casing.
  8. Inspect the unit mounting support to see that it is sound.
  9. Inspect the unit to ensure there is no obvious deterioration.

Maintenance Performed by Serviceman-Heating Season

Complete the unit inspections and service routines described below at the beginning of each heating season.

- Inspect the controller panel wiring to verify that all electrical connections are tight and that wire insulation is intact.

When the air conditioner is to be used again.

  1. Clean the air filter and re-install it in the indoor side.

On the filter access panel at the left side of the unit, a "Filter access panel" label is attached.

  1. Check that the air inlet and outlet of the indoor/outdoor unit are not blocked.

Operation Tips

Do not overcool the room.

This is not good for your health and wastes electricity.

Keep blinds or curtains closed.

Do not let direct sunshine enter the room when the air conditioner is in operation.

Clean the air filter regularly.

Blockages in the air filter reduce the airflow and lower cooling and dehumidifying effects.

Make sure that the doors and windows are shut tight.

Avoid opening doors and windows as much as possible to keep the cool air in the room.

Ventilate the room occasionally.

Since windows are kept closed, it is a good idea to open them and ventilate the room now and then.

LG AK-H1208C02 - Ventilate the room occasionally. - 1

CAUTION

Before removing access panels to draw out air filters, disconnect power supply.

Since the fan rotates at high speed, it may cause a serious injury.

① Clean at least once every month using a vacuum cleaner or washing with a neutral detergent in lukewarm water. ② After washing with water, dry it well in the shade. - Do not expose the air filter to direct sunlight or heat from a fire when drying it.
