Preparation

Please read entire manual before installation.

Before You Start

  • Disconnect negative battery terminal. Consult a qualified technician for instructions.
  • Avoid installing the unit where it would be subject to high temperatures, such as from direct sunlight, or where it would be subject to dust, dirt or excessive vibration.

Getting Started

  • Remove trim ring from unit.
  • Remove 2 transit screws located on top of the unit.
  • Insert the supplied keys into the slots as shown, and slide the unit out of the mounting sleeve.
    • Install mounting sleeve into opening, bending tabs to secure.
  • Connect wiring harness and antenna. Consult a qualified technician if you are unsure.
  • Certain vehicles may require an installation kit and/or wiring harness adapter (sold separately).

- Test for correct operation and slide into mounting sleeve to secure.

- Snap trim ring into place.

General Operation

Power On/OffPress or any other button (except EJECT) to turn the unit on. Press to turn the unit off.
Changing ModesPress MODE DOWN to cycle down or press MODE UP to cycle up through the following operating modes. A mode indicator located to the left of the LCD will point to the current mode of operation.

Auxiliary InputsThe AMB600W offers two auxiliary input ports, a 3.5 mm port on the front panel and an RCA connection on the back of the unit. Use either connection to connect audio device, MP3 player, etc. Press MODE UP/DOWN to select AUX FRONT or AUX REAR modes.
VolumeAdjust volume using volume knob (00-46).
DisplayPress DISP to select between clock and different types of information, such as radio frequency, CD track/elapsed time or MP3/WMA song information.
ResetPress RESET upon initial installation or if abnormal operation occurs. Reset button is located behind the front panel.
Set the ClockWith the unit on, press and hold DISP until the clock begins to flash, then release. Press TUNE ◀◀ to adjust the hours and TUNE ▶▶ to adjust the minutes. Press DISP momentarily to save the selected time.

General Operation

12/24-hour ClockThe clock will display 12-hour AM/PM time in USA frequency spacing mode (PM 10:00). In European frequency spacing mode, the clock will display 24-hour time (22:00).
AudioPressAUDIO momentarily to select between Bass, Treble, Balance, Fader, Equalizer, Subwoofer and Source Volume Level.→BASS → TREBLE → BALANCE → FADER → EQ → SUBWOOFER → SOURCE LEVEL
BassPress AUDIO until BASS appears, then rotate volume knob left/right to adjust (-6 minimum / +6 maximum).
TreblePress AUDIO until TREBLE appears, then rotate volume knob left/right to adjust (-6 minimum / +6 maximum).
BalancePress AUDIO until BALANCE appears, then rotate volume knob left/right to adjust (BALANCE LEFT 12 - BALANCE RIGHT 12). BALANCE EVEN represents equal balance.
FaderPress AUDIO until FADER appears, then rotate volume knob left/right to adjust (FADER FRONT 12 - FADER REAR 12). FADER EVEN represents equal fader.
EQPress AUDIO until EQ appears, then rotate volume knob to select from the following equalization curves: FLAT (default), POP, JAZZ, CLASSIC, BEAT, ROCK and USER. Any manual adjustments to the bass and treble settings are automatically saved as USER.
SubwooferPress AUDIO until SUBWFR appears, then rotate volume knob left/right to adjust (0 minimum / +12 maximum).Note: Subwoofer option will not appear if the REAR/SUB option in the setup menu is set to REAR. Refer to page 7 for details.
Source Volume LevelThe source volume level control allows a gain adjustment for each audio source: AM, FM, WB, CD, AUX FRONT/REAR, operation of iPod, USB, SD card, Bluetooth and SiriusXM. Set the source volume level for each mode, depending on the relative volume of each audio source.To set the source volume level, pressAUDIOuntil SOURCE LEVEL appears. After one second, the current mode will appear on the display. Turn thevolume knobto adjust the audio level of the current source (-6 minimum/+6 maximum).Note: Only the current mode will be available for adjustment. To adjust another mode of operation, pressMODE UP/DOWNuntil the desired mode is selected, then set the source volume level for that mode.

AM/FM Tuner Operation

Seek TuningPress TUNE ◀◀ or TUNE ▶▶ for more than one second to seek to the next strong station. Press and hold to advance quickly.
Manual TuningPress TUNE ◀◀ or TUNE ▶▶ momentarily to change radio frequency up or down one step at a time.
BandPress BAND to select between FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1, AM2 and WB bands.
Storing and Recalling Station PresetsUp to 18 FM stations and 12 AM stations can be stored. To store a station, select the desired band and station. Press and hold the desired preset button (1-6) for more than 2 seconds.When stored, the preset number will appear in the display. The station can be recalled anytime by pressing the corresponding preset button.

Weather Band Tuner Operation

BandPress BAND to select weather band (WB).
Manual TuningPress TUNE ◀◀ or TUNE ▶▶ momentarily to seek the next weather band station.
Storing and Recalling PresetsUp to 6 weather band stations can be stored. To store a station, select the weather band and the desired station. Press and hold the desired preset button (1-6) for more than 2 seconds.When stored, the preset number will appear in the display. The station can be recalled anytime by pressing the corresponding preset button.

SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner Connections

Connecting the SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner (sold separately)

SiriusXM Satellite Radio operation requires the connection of the SiriusXM-Connect Vehicle Tuner (sold separately).

Note: The SiriusXM-Connect Vehicle Tuner must have the SiriusXM logo to be compatible with the AMB600W.

To connect the SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner, follow the instructions provided with the tuner. When connecting the tuner to the AMB600W, the cable orientation should be connected as shown below.

Line up the connector with the pins on the cable. It can only be inserted as shown above. Push the cable into the head unit's connector until it clicks. Attempting to insert the cable differently from shown above may cause damage to the cable or head unit.

SiriusXM Satellite Radio Overview

Everything worth listening to is on SiriusXM, getting over 130 channels, including the most commercial-free music, plus the best sports, news, talk and entertainment. A SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner (sold separately) and Subscription are required. For more information, visit www.siriusxm.com.

To listen to SiriusXM Satellite Radio, a subscription is required. Activate the SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner using one of the two methods below:

  • Online: Go to "www.siriusxm.com/activatenow" and choose ACTIVATE RADIO.
    • Phone: Call 1-800-XM-RADIO (1-800-967-2346).

Activation typically takes 10-15 minutes, but may take up to an hour. It is recommended to leave your vehicle on until the "Subscription Updated" message appears.

SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner Operation

Radio IDTo view the Radio ID on the LCD, press TUNE ▶▶ or TUNE ◀◀ until channel 0 appears. The 8 character Radio ID will appear on the display. The Radio ID is also printed on the underside of the SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner.Note: The Radio ID does not use the letters I, O, S, F.
Listening to SiriusXM Satellite RadioAfter installation of the SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner, press SOURCE until SiriusXM mode appears to begin listening to SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
Changing ChannelsPress TUNE ▶▶ or TUNE ◀◀ to change SiriusXM channels. Press and hold to advance quickly.
BandPress BAND to select between the SXM1, SXM2 and SXM3 bands. Up to six presets can be programmed for each band, for a total of 18 SiriusXM Satellite Radio channel presets.
Setting Channel PresetsTo store a channel, choose a Band (SXM1-SXM3), then tune to the desired channel. Press and hold a preset button (1-6) on the front panel or remote control for more than two seconds. When stored, a beep sound will be heard and the preset number will appear in the display.
Recalling Channel PresetsThe preset channel can be recalled by pressing the corresponding preset button.Note: Buttons 7,8,9,0 on the remote control are not associated with channel presets.
Channel ListPress SELECT to enter the channel search menu. With "CHANNEL" highlighted, press SELECT to browse through a list of all available channels.Turn the volume knob to cycle through the list of channels.When the desired channel appears on the top line of the display, press SELECT to begin listening to that channel.Note: Press DISP to change between the channel name, artist name, song title or content info.

iTunes® Tagging Operation

RequirementsThe iTunes Tagging feature of the AMB600W requires the optional SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner (sold separately).
OverviewiTunes Tagging allows the user to "Tag" songs that are playing on SiriusXM Satellite Radio channel and enables them to be purchased later through iTunes. With the touch of a button the unit will remember the title and artist song information, and then transfer that information to your iPod device the next time you connect it to the AMB600W. A new list called "Tagged" will appear in iTunes, giving you the option to purchase each song.
Tagging Music
Step 1Tune to a SiriusXM channel. The TAG button on the LCD will illuminate, indicating that a valid artist name and song title are available.
Step 2Press and hold the TAG button. A confirmation will be displayed, indicating that the song information has been saved. The song information will be saved in memory until an iPod device is plugged in. Up to 64 SiriusXM Tags can be saved before they must be transferred or deleted.
Step 3Transfer Tags to an iPod/iPhone.·Connect an iPod/iPhone device. The mode will change to operation of iPod and Tags will be automatically transferred to the device, removing the Tags from the AMB600W's internal memory. A confirmation message will appear confirming the number of tags sent. The AMB600W must remain in operation of iPod mode until the "TAGS SENT" message is displayed.·If an iPod/iPhone device is connected when a song is tagged, Tags will transfer automatically to the device. The unit must remain in SiriusXM mode until the "TAGS SENT" message is displayed. (See page 15 for compatibility with iPod devices.)Note: Tags can only be sent from SiriusXM or operation of iPod modes.
Step 4Sync with iTunes. A list named "Tagged" will appear on the left in the iTunes software. Click on the "Tagged" list to view all the songs that have been tagged and click the "view" button for purchase information.
Deleting All TagsPress and hold AUDIO/MENU to enter the setup menu and select the "Delete Tags" option. See page 12 for details.Note: Once transferred, Tags are managed from the iTunes software.

Displayed MessageDescription
CHECK iPod VERThere is a compatibility issue with the iPod device that is connected. Check the list of compatible iPod devices below.
If the attached iPod device is compatible, update the firmware to the latest version using iTunes.
SENDING TAGSTags are being sent to the iPod device. This process can take several minutes depending on the number of Tags being sent.
iPod FULLThere is not enough space on the connected iPod device to transfer the iTunes Tags. Free up space using iTunes.
TRANSFER FAILEDConnection error. Ensure the iPod device is powered on and reconnect the iPod device until a confirmation is displayed.
ALREADY TAGGEDThe same song has already been tagged from the same channel, and is currently saved in memory. The same song cannot be tagged twice - unless the song is tagged on a different channel, the Tags are sent to an iPod device or the tags are erased.
MEMORY FULL CONNECT iPodThe internal memory will hold 64 SiriusXM Tags. An iPod device must be connected to transfer the Tags, or the Tags must be deleted before more songs can be tagged.
NO TAG INFOThere is not sufficient information (artist or title) to tag the song. Some HD Radio stations or SiriusXM channels or certain songs may not fully support iTunes Tagging.
TAGGING FAILEDThere was an error saving the Tag information to the internal memory. Press and hold the TAG button again.
NO TAGS STOREDThere are no tags saved in the internal memory. The Delete Tags function can only delete Tags that are saved in the internal memory.

Insert CDWith the label facing up, insert a standard size CD into the CD slot. The CD will automatically begin playback.
Eject CDPress EJECT to eject the CD. The unit will change to previous mode of operation. If the disc is not removed within 10 seconds, the unit will reload the disc. The unit does not have to be turned on to eject CD.

Playing an MP3/WMA Disc

When an MP3/WMA encoded disc is first inserted,

"MP3 CD READING" will appear in the display. Depending on the number of files and folders, this may take several seconds.

Folder/File Search Mode

MP3/WMA CD mode features a file and folder search mode. This search allows navigating through folders to find a specific MP3 or WMA file for playback.

Step 1

Press SELECT to enter the file/folder search mode. A list of all the folders on the CD will be displayed.

Note: Any files located in the root directory will be located in the folder named "ROOT". Press SELECT to view the files on the root folder.

Step 2

Turn the volume knob to cycle through all the folders on the device and press SELECT to choose the desired folder. The list of files in the selected folder will be displayed. Turn the volume knob to cycle through the list of files.

Note: Pressing ESC when viewing the contents of a folder will return to the list of folders on the CD. Press ESC again to exit the search menu.

Step 3

Once the desired song is displayed, press SELECT to begin playback of the desired song.

Controlling a Device: Manual Control

When the control of iPod/iPhone feature is set to "MANUAL" in the iPod Menu, use the following functions to control the device:

Manual Control for iPodWhen "MANUAL" control is selected from the iPod Menu, the iPod or iPhone device can be controlled directly from the device's interface. All functions except for volume can be used from the iPod or iPhone device.

Pairing a Device

PreparationBefore you can use a Bluetooth device, it must be paired and connected. Make sure that Bluetooth is activated on your device before you begin the pairing process.
Pairing a New DeviceThe AMB600W broadcasts the pairing signal constantly when no devices are currently connected. Complete the pairing sequence from your Bluetooth device. Refer to the owner's manual for your device for more details.The device name is "DUAL BT"The Bluetooth passcode "1234"Note: The AMB600W can be in any mode of operation when pairing is performed.
Pairing Additional DevicesIf a device is currently connected, press and holdto disconnect the current device before a new device can be paired. Then begin the pairing sequence from the new Bluetooth device.

(Re)Connecting a Paired Device

Most Bluetooth devices support the auto-connect feature, and will connect automatically if the device is in range when the AMB600W is powered-on. If your device was previously paired but does not connect, use these instructions below. Some devices require authorization to allow the auto connect feature.

- If your most recently connected Bluetooth device becomes disconnected or does not reconnect, press \~ from Bluetooth mode to reconnect your mobile device.

  • To connect a previously paired device that was not recently connected:
    1) If applicable, press and hold 📄 to disconnect any connected mobile devices.
    2) From Bluetooth mode, press SELECT. "Paired Devices" will appear on the LCD.
    3) Turn the volume knob to cycle through the list of devices.
    4) Press SELECT or ↗ to connect to the desired device. It must be in range to connect.

Note: If the Auto Connect setup menu setting is set to OFF, you must press 🔔 to connect you device after pairing, and each time the AMB600W is powered-on.

Disconnecting a Device

Press and hold for 3 seconds to disconnect a connected device. The device will remain paired and appear in the PAIRED DEVICES menu, but not be connected.

Bluetooth® Operation

Making a Phone Call

Manual DialingPress once. "Enter Phone Number" will be shown, then an "_" will appear on the display.Using the remote control, enter the phone number using the 0-9 buttons. Press on the remote control or AMB600W front panel to begin dialing.Note: Placing a phone call from your cell phone will also use the Bluetooth function of the AMB600W.
Recent Calls ListPress SELECT from Bluetooth mode to view the 10 most recent phone calls that were dialed, received or missed while connected to the AMB600W.Turn the volume knob to cycle through the recent phone numbers. Press SELECT or to dial the phone number.
Redialing the last numberTo redial the last phone number, press two times from Bluetooth mode. Dialing will begin automatically.

Receiving and Ending Phone Calls

Receiving a Phone CallIncoming phone calls will automatically appear on the display and a ring tone will be heard.
Note: The volume of the ring tone depends on the volume level of the AMB600W. The incoming ring tone may not be heard if the volume is set to a low level or mute is activated.

VolumeTurn the volume knob to adjust the volume level during a phone call. Bluetooth mode has a separate volume level from the main volume of other modes. The AMB600W will remember the volume level in Bluetooth mode and always return to the last volume level for each phone call.
Microphone MutePress MUTE during a phone call to turn the AMB600W's external microphone off. Press MUTE again to resume microphone operation.
Audio TransferPress DISP during a phone call to transfer the call from the AMB600W to the cell phone. Press DISP again to toggle the audio back to the AMB600W.
Call WaitingDuring a phone call, if there is a second incoming call, press to place the first call on hold and switch to the second phone call. Press again to switch back to the first call.
Call HoldDuring a phone call, when there are no additional incoming calls, press to place the call on hold. Press again to resume the phone call.Note: Audio transfer, call waiting and call hold must be supported by the mobile phone and service provider to function properly.

Bluetooth® Operation

Streaming Audio Operation

The AMB600W supports A2DP (advanced audio distribution profile) wireless streaming audio from your Bluetooth mobile device directly to your head unit. You can also control your music from the front panel of the head unit using AVRCP (audio video remote control profile).

Notes:

  • To stream music to your head unit, your mobile device must support the A2DP and AVRCP Bluetooth profiles. Check the owner's manual of your mobile device for details.
  • Streaming audio must be enabled from your mobile device. This option will vary depending on the device. Some devices allow streaming audio to be disabled.

After pairing, connecting and enabling streaming audio from a compatible mobile device, begin playing music using the music player on your mobile device. Once the music is playing, the following functions can be used to control the music:

  • The ▶▶ button will skip to the next available audio track.
  • The ◀◀ button will skip to the previous audio track.
  • The ▶/Ⅲ button will toggle between play and pause during playback.
  • The button will stop the audio playback.

Note: Some Bluetooth devices may not fully support these commands.

Bluetooth Reset

Resetting the Bluetooth module will remove the list of paired phones and delete the list of recent calls from memory.

To reset Bluetooth, perform the following steps:

1) Press MODE UP/DOWN until the head unit is in Bluetooth mode.
2) Press and hold MODE DOWN for 3 seconds to reset the Bluetooth settings back to the factory default.

Compatibility Note:

Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some mobile devices may be incompatible, function improperly or may not support all features when used with the AMB600W.

Limited One Year Warranty

This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

Dual Electronics Corp. warrants this product to the original purchaser to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of the original purchase.

Dual Electronics Corp. agrees, at our option, during the warranty period, to repair any defect in material or workmanship or to furnish an equal new, renewed or comparable product (whichever is deemed necessary) in exchange without charges, subject to verification of the defect or malfunction and proof of the date of purchase. Subsequent replacement products are warranted for the balance of the original warranty period.

Who is covered? This warranty is extended to the original retail purchaser for products purchased from an authorized Dual dealer and used in the U.S.A.

What is covered? This warranty covers all defects in material and workmanship in this product. The following are not covered: software, installation/removal costs, damage resulting from accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, product modification, improper installation, incorrect line voltage, unauthorized repair or failure to follow instructions supplied with the product, or damage occurring during return shipment of the product. What to do?

  1. Before you call for service, check the troubleshooting guide in your owner's manual. A slight adjustment of any custom controls may save you a service call.
  2. If you require service during the warranty period, you must carefully pack the product (preferably in the original package) and ship it by prepaid transportation with a copy of the original receipt from the retailer to an authorized service center.
  3. Please describe your problem in writing and include your name, a return UPS shipping address (P.O. Box not acceptable), and a daytime phone number with your shipment.
