How to save my personal data on the scale?

Press the SET key to turn on the scale. Select a memory location (P0 to P9) with the ▲ or ▼ keys, then confirm with SET. Then enter your gender, height and age following the on-screen prompts.

Why does my scale display "Err"?

The Err message indicates an overload (more than 180 kg) or a weighing error (instability, movement). Remove the load immediately; otherwise the sensor may be damaged. For a measurement error, stay still on the scale.

What does the message "Lo" on the screen mean?

Lo means low batteries. Replace the 4 AAA batteries (1.5 V) respecting polarity.

How to clean the scale without damaging it?

Use a soft damp cloth. Never use solvents, abrasive products or excess water. Do not immerse the scale in water.

Can I use the scale if I wear a pacemaker?

No, the scale emits a low electrical current for body analysis. Wearers of pacemakers or other electronic implants should not use this device.

How to switch from kg to lb or stone?

Under the scale, above the battery compartment, there is a small black UNIT button. Press it to switch between kg, lb and st:lb.

Why do analysis results vary throughout the day?

The body naturally fluctuates (hydration, meals, exercise). For comparable results, always weigh yourself at the same time, preferably in the morning after using the bathroom, barefoot.

What to do if the screen shows "Erl" or "ErH"?

Erl means fat mass percentage below 5%, ErH above 50%. These values cannot be displayed. Check that your personal data is correct.

How many people can use the scale?

The scale has 10 memory slots (P0 to P9). Each person can save their gender, height and age for personalized analysis.

Can the scale be used on carpet?

It is not recommended to place the scale on a carpet or rug, as this may distort measurements. Use a flat, hard surface (tile, parquet).

1 How do the body analysis scales work?

With these new revolutionary scales you will receive information on your body composition regarding weight, percentage of body fat % body water % muscle mass % bone mass kg, BMI and the Basal Metabolic Rate (energy requirement) kcal. First of all the personal data such as gender (male or female), age and height must be stored in the individual memory location just once. Then weighing is as easy as on any normal scales. You only need to choose your individual memory button, step onto the scales and in just a few seconds your current body status will be displayed. A small electrical current is used to measure the resistance. Water, which is mainly contained in muscles, is a good conductor, fat on the other hand blocks the current. Taking the measured resistance and the stored data into consideration, the body analysis scales can very precisely calculate your body composition.

2 Conditions of use

The measurements should take place without clothes, if possible, and always barefoot.

Since the body is subject to natural fluctuations (e.g. dehydration through sports or sauna, intake of food and fluids), constant conditions should be ensured when measuring, so as to receive comparable values.

Care should be taken that the measurements are always carried out at the same time of day. Directly after getting up in the morning, the water has not yet spread through the body. This means that the resistance is still relatively high, due to the bad conductivity in the body. With increasing movements throughout the day, the water spreads through the body, increasing conductivity, which causes the resistance, and thus the fat level too, to be shown as lower. To determine the actual changes of body composition, it is therefore important to measure always at the same time. An easy way of doing this is by always measuring a quarter of an hour after getting up in the morning, either before or after using the toilet.

Despite the minimum current, persons with cardiac pace makers or other implants, which emit frequencies, must not use the body analysis scales! Other implants, such as a titanium plate in the knee, pose no danger. Metals, however, conduct electricity extremely well, which has the effect that body fat values are "beautiful", meaning that the actual fat level is higher than shown by the scales. Tendencies, on the other hand, can be determined just as well. In women, menstrual factors have an effect on the measurement results, since hormonal fluctuations influence the body's water balance. If the body contains all lot of water, the fat values are lower, if less water is contained, the

"Err" Overload - The 180 kg maximum load capacity has been exceeded. Immediately remove the load from the scales; otherwise, the load cell could be damaged. Or: Faulty weighing / measuring process - For example, if the scales are unstable or you are not standing still on the weighing platform.

"Lo" Batteries are empty - Please replace the batteries with the appropriate battery type (1.5 V AAA).
"Erl" Fat percentage % too low - Lower than 5% cannot be displayed.
"Erl Fat percentage % too high -Higher than 50% cannot be displayed.

ADE guarantees to rectify any material or manufacturing defects by way of repair or replacement free of charge for a period of three years from the purchase date. At the time of purchase, please get the retailer to fill in and stamp the guarantee card. In the case of guarantee claims, please return the scales to your retailer including guarantee card and stating the reasons for the claim.

Note: Extreme electromagnetic influences, e.g. when operating radio communication equipment next to the scales, can affect the displayed value. Once the interference has been eliminated, the product will return to normal function. A resetting of the device may be necessary.

Water makes up approx. 60% of men's body mass. The value for women is about 55% (due to the higher percentage of body fat). Of this total amount of body water, approx. two thirds are stored in the cells and is therefore called intracellular water. The remaining third is extracellular water.

The normal range of the body mass index lies between 20 and 25 for men and between 19 and 24 for women. For persons in the second half of life, a body mass index of 26 is still viewed as normal.

There are no general values for muscle mass.

values are a little higher. When a woman is pregnant, there is no danger for the unborn child. But due to larger water deposits during pregnancy, the values are distorted making the measurement senseless.

3 Putting into Service

Safety information: This device is not to be used by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental abilities or who are lacking experience and understanding, unless they are supervised by persons, who are responsible for their safety or have been instructed in the use of the device. It should be ensured that children do not play with the device.

Not suitable for persons with electronic implants (cardiac pace makers, etc.).

Place the scales on a flat and solid surface (tiles, parquet, etc.). Incorrect measurements make occur on carpets.

Attention! There is a danger of slipping if the scales' surface is wet or if feet are wet.

Ensure that no objects fall onto the scales; otherwise, the glass might break.

Use only a damp cloth to clean the scales. Never use solvents or abrasive cleaning agents. Do not submerge.

Preparation:

Open the lid of the battery compartment on the bottom of the scales and insert the supplied batteries (4 x 1.5 V AAA). Please observe the correct polarity of the batteries (+/-).

On the bottom of the scales, above the battery compartment, there is a small push button "UNIT" to make country specific adjustments (kg = kilogram / lb = pound / st; lb = stone; pound). Please ensure that the scales are set to the appropriate units of weight for you.

4 Programming / Entering personal data

Before initial use, you must enter and store your personal data such as gender (female or male), age and height in the memory locations PO - P9 (for up to 10 persons). The scales have highly sensitive sensor buttons (Sensor Touch). The buttons are located below the display. To enter personal data, use the buttons: SET (start / and memory button), (plus button), (minus button) and follow the detailed steps:

1 Gently press the SET button. "P0" flashes in the display. To select the desired memory location (P0 - P9), touch the or button and save by pressing the SET button.
2 After you have selected the memory location (e.g. memory location P3), the gender icon flashes. To select the desired gender (male or female), touch the or button and save by pressing the SET button.
3 After you have selected your gender (e.g. male), the age flashes on the display (default age 30). To enter your age, touch the or button and save by pressing the SET button.
4 After you have entered your age, the height flashes on the display (default 170 cm). To enter your height, touch the or button and save by pressing the SET button.

After entering the all data, your selected values are displayed once more and the scales return to 0.0kg . The scales are now ready and you can conduct the body analysis. Without any additional activity the scales switch off automatically after a few seconds. Your personal data has been saved.

By touching the or button within 2 seconds after the initial input, you can directly enter the data of further persons, or you can repeat all the above mentioned steps to make a new input.

5 Weighing function (only weight measuring)

1 Switch the scales on with the Tap-on function; to do so, briefly press the scales with your foot. The display first shows "88:88" and then "0.0 kg". The scales are now ready.
2 Stand in the centre of the scales. After the scales have stabilised, your weight is displayed 3 times in succession and then for approx. 10 seconds continuously. After that, the scales switch off automatically.

6 Body analysis

An analysis is only possible with bare feet. The personal data must be entered beforehand (see page 4).

1 Switch the scales on by touching the SET button. The display shows the personal data of the last setting. If this is not your personal data, choose the memory location with your saved personal data by pressing the or button. Your personal data is displayed. Confirm each set of data by pressing the SET button after which the scales will return to 0.0kg .
2 Then with bare feet, carefully step onto the scales' stainless steel strips (measuring units) and stand still.
3 First your weight is displayed. After this, during the body analysis, the display flashes twice. Keep standing still. After the measurement, the values are shown on the display twice in succession as follows:

2 Your percentage of body fat in % and a subtitlised assessment: Underfat / Healthy/ Overfat / Obese

3 Your body water in %

4 Your muscle mass in %

5 Your bone mass in kg

After that, the scales switch off automatically.

The percentage of body fat shows the percentage of fat in relation to the total weight of a body. There is no general recommendation for this value, since this depends significantly on gender (due to the different physique) and age. Body fat is vital for the daily body functions. It protects organs, cushions joints, regulates body temperature, stores vitamins and acts as an energy storage for the body. With the exception of athletes, a body fat percentage for women between 10% and 13% and for men between 2% and 5% is seen as vital.

The percentage of body fat is not a clear indicator for health. A body weight and a percentage of body fat which are too high are related to many diseases of civilisation such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, etc. A lack of exercise and the wrong diet are the most common causes for these diseases. There is a clear causal connection between being overweight and a lack of exercise.

A significant part of the human body consists of water. This body water has a different distribution throughout the body. Lean muscle tissue contains about 75% water, blood approx. 83% water, body fat approx. 25% water and the bones have a water percentage of about 22% .
