Frequently Asked Questions - KASOUSVIDXA Kogan

How do I clean the induction cooktop?
Unplug the unit and let it cool completely. Wipe the ceramic surface with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads to prevent scratches.
What types of cookware can I use?
Only cookware with a magnetic base such as iron, stainless steel, or cast iron. To check, see if a magnet sticks to the bottom. Avoid glass, aluminum, or ceramic pots.
Why does the cooktop turn off automatically?
The unit has an auto shut-off safety feature. It may activate if no cookware is detected, if the temperature exceeds safe limits, or after the timer expires. Ensure proper cookware is placed on the zone and settings are correct.
Can I use a timer while cooking?
Yes, the timer can be set from 1 minute to 3 hours. When the timer ends, the cooktop will automatically shut off. Refer to the manual for exact button sequence.
The control panel is not responding. What should I do?
First, ensure the cooktop is plugged in and the power is on. Check for moisture or grease on the touch panel. Clean it gently. If unresponsive, unplug for 10 minutes and try again. Contact Kogan support if issue persists.
How do I activate the child lock?
Press and hold the lock button (usually a key icon) for 3 seconds. An indicator will show. Repeat to unlock. This prevents accidental changes during cooking.
Can I use a power strip or extension cord?
It is recommended to plug the cooktop directly into a wall outlet. If an extension cord is necessary, use a heavy-duty one (rated at least 10A) and ensure it is fully uncoiled to avoid overheating.
What does the error code 'E0' or 'E1' mean?
Error codes indicate sensor issues. E0 usually means no cookware detected; E1 may indicate a circuit failure. Turn off the unit, remove any cookware, wait 5 minutes, and restart. If the error persists, contact support.
Is the cooktop suitable for induction-ready cookware only?
Yes. The cooktop uses electromagnetic induction, so only pots and pans with a ferromagnetic bottom will heat. Non-magnetic cookware will not work and may cause the unit to shut off.
How do I adjust the power level?
Use the + and - or touch slide control to adjust the power from level 1 (low) to level 10 (high). Some models also have a temperature mode. Refer to the display for feedback.

Operating the Sous Vide

  1. Ensure that the water bath contains water before use. The water should not be higher than the MAX level, nor lower than the MIN level. If there is no water in the bath, or the water is lower than the MIN level, the unit will not work and the LCD display will show the error code E04.
  2. Plug the power lead into the back of the unit securely, then plug it into a wall socket.
  3. Place the bags holding the vacuum packaged food into the pouch rack and then put the rack into the water bath.
  4. Set the time and temperature using the control buttons.
  5. Press the "Start" button and the unit will start to work. The marks of heating and water cycling will display on the LCD screen.
  6. If the set time runs out, the device will not shut off. It will continue to work for one hour, with a "beep" warning tone every minute unless the user presses the "stop" button to shut the unit off.
  7. When the set temperature is reached, the unit will stop heating and the "heating" icon will disappear. If the set time has not been reached and the temperature of the water is still lower than what has been set, the unit will start heating again with the heating icon showing.
  8. If the temperature passes 85^ C, the pump will stop working and the water cycling will stop automatically.

NOTES

  • If the pump makes a noise when the machine is starting up, that just means the water in the bath is starting to cycle. After 5-10 seconds the noise will disappear.
  • When putting water into the bath, ensure the water level is between the MIN and MAX levels.
  • This cooker is not suitable for cooking food directly. Food MUST be packaged into bags before putting it into the bath.
  • If the bag breaks or leaks during cooking, please take it out, clean the water bath fully and then start again when the food has been repacked.
  • If the cooker makes abnormal noises during cooking, it may be caused by impurities being sucked into the pump. Please stop the unit, clean it and then restart.
•After use, please empty the water out of the bath.

Care and Cleaning

  • Do not leave water sitting in the bath after use. Allow the water to cool, then remove the racks and using the offset handles for stability, pour the bath contents out into a sink.
•Dry the interior with a soft, clean cloth.
  • If impurities are sucked into the pump, please pour the water out of the bath, then take the baffle off using a screwdriver. Pour in new clean water (adding a small amount of detergent if necessary) and use the machine as normal without any food packages inside. The water cycle should wash away the impurities gradually. When the cooker has cleaned, please stop the unit and pour the water out.
  • Never immerse the unit into water or any other liquid for cleaning.
  • Never use abrasive or harsh chemicals to clean the sous vide.
  • Never put the sous vide into a dishwasher.

The temperature is not holding to within 0.3°CCheck to be sure that there is sufficient water in the unit (ie - the water at least reaches the MIN mark.)
