POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS

The Leica Trinovid HD binoculars have a hermetically sealed, nitrogen-filled magnesium housing. They are therefore suitable for outdoor use. Wet weather is no problem – the binoculars are absolutely water-tight to a depth of 5m and the internal lenses do not fog.

ATTACHMENT OF A CARRYING STRAP AND THE EYEPIECE CAP

In the delivered condition, the Adventure Strap is already attached to your binoculars. This carrying strap can also be used as a bag. Please refer to the enclosed instructions for details of its use. If you want to attach a different carrying strap: you will find a relevant illustration on the back of the cover.

Note:

If you want to attach the eyepiece cap to the carrying strap, this must be done at the same time as the carrying strap is attached.

FITTING OF LENS CAPS

To do this, carefully pull the rubber rings on the cap over the binoculars from the lens side.

ADJUSTMENT OF THE EYECUPS/ USE WITH AND WITHOUT SPECTACLES

The eyecups 3 can be easily adjusted by turning and they lock securely in the selected positions. They can be removed completely for thorough cleaning.

If you want to use the binoculars with spectacles, they remain fully screwed in (picture A), or slightly screwed out. For use of the binoculars without spectacles they can be screwed out by turning in counter-clockwise direction. Two positions are available for optimum adjustment.

If the eyepieces are heavily soiled, we recommend removing the eyecups for cleaning. To do this, simply pull out of the completely screwed out position (pictures C, D).

ADJUSTMENT OF THE INTEROCULAR DISTANCE

The individual interocular distance can be adjusted by bending the binoculars about the pivot axes 6. When the interocular distance has been set correctly, the right and left visual field merge into a circular image.

ADJUSTMENT OF THE FOCUS/DIOPTER ADJUSTMENT

The focus for objects at different distances is adjusted on the Leica Trinovid HD binoculars using the central focusing wheel 5.

The diopter ring is used to adjust for individual visual impairments so the binoculars can be used without spectacles; 2 this changes only the focus of the right-hand system.

Procedure

1. Close your right eye or cover the right-hand lens. Then adjust the central focusing wheel so that you can see the target object with optimum focus through the left-hand binocular tube.
2. Close your left eye or cover the left-hand lens. Then adjust the diopter wheel so that you can see the target object with optimum focus through the right-hand binocular tube.

The value that has been set can be easily read using the red index line on the diopter scale 4.

DIOPTER SCALE READING

The user's individual value determined using the focus adjustment can then be adjusted again within seconds using the scale setting that has been determined once.

In the value that can be read on the scale, the distance between two lines corresponds to approximately one diopter visual impairment between the left and right eyes.

CARE/CLEANING

Your Leica Trinovid HD binoculars have been designed for constant use outdoors. No particular care is needed other than occasional cleaning.

Fingerprints, droplets of water, etc. on lenses and eyepieces can be wiped off using a soft, lint-free cloth. Breathing on the lenses before-hand may help. Coarse soiling on the glass surfaces, such as sand, should be removed using a fine brush or blown off. In the case of severe soiling, the binoculars may be cleaned by rinsing them under running water that is hand-hot at most. Salt water should also be washed off.

Alcohol or other chemical solutions may not be used for cleaning.

Important:

• Make sure not to touch the glass surfaces with your fingers, especially if you previously been applying hand cream, insect repellent, etc. These substances may contain chemicals that damage or destroy the coatings on the glass surfaces.
• Do not apply excessive pressure when cleaning heavily soiled lens surfaces. Although the coating is abrasion-resistant, it can nevertheless be damaged by sand or salt crystals.

MALFUNCTIONS AND THEIR RESOLUTION

10 Year Passport Protection Plan: For a period of 10 years we will repair or replace your Leica Sport Optic product purchased from an Authorized USA and Canadian dealer in the event it becomes damaged or defective, at no charge to you. If we cannot repair your product, we will replace it with a product in perfect working order of equal or better physical condition. It doesn't matter how it happened, whose fault it was, or where you purchased it in the USA or Canada.

Please note that our Passport Protection Plan excludes coverage for intentional damage, misuse, cosmetic damage that does not affect the performance of the optic, fire, loss, theft, or unauthorized repair or modification.

This Passport Protection Plan is void, if damage is caused by the use of accessories not sold or authorized by Leica Camera Inc. or from service by persons not authorized by Leica Camera Inc. It will be at Leica Camera Inc.'s sole discretion to extend service under this Warranty for damage arising from the above-mentioned conditions.

30 Year Manufacturer's Warranty: Beyond the 10-year Passport Protection, Leica Sport Optics offers a 30-year warranty on the optical system of our products for products purchased in the USA and Canada from an authorized Leica Camera Inc. North American dealer. Once examined, if it is determined that the optical system is defective, we will repair or replace the instrument or defective part. All non-optical products (i.e. accessories) are warranted for two years from date of purchase. This warranty is void if damage results from unauthorized repairs, accident, alteration, misuse, abuse, neglect, fire, flood or other acts of God.

Any Leica Sport Optic product that is purchased in the USA or Canada that is not imported by Leica Camera Inc. and not sold to a consumer by an Authorized U.S. or Canadian Leica Camera Inc. North America Dealer has no Authorized Warranty.

In the event of a defect, please call customer assistance at 800-222-0118 to obtain a Service Order Number (SO), which will be used to identify your warranty request through its completion. When you call, our customer care representative will give you instructions as to where to send or take the product for service. Whenever you send or deliver your product to us, please enclose your name, shipping address, daytime phone number, and a brief description of the problem. Please write the Service Order Number on the enclosure and on the outside of any packaging. We will determine, at our option, whether to repair or replace the instrument. If the instrument is not covered under the warranty; we will contact you with an estimate of the repair price.

Please note that our Passport Warranty excludes any integrated rechargeable batteries (i.e., Calonox). Battery life is a function of usage and charging frequency.

Integrated rechargeable batteries have a Limited 5-Year Warranty. We believe that this is ample to provide coverage for regular product usage and is not indicative of what a user should expect from this product.

The ground-breaking new Leica Passport Warranty is completely free and includes a fully transferrable no-questions, no-fault, 10-year accidental damage cover plan and a 30-year manufacturer's defect warranty, neither of which require a warranty card or receipt. The 10-year cast-iron cover plan allows Leica customers to enjoy their products with greater peace of mind

1. In the event any individual firm, shop, etc. other than the skilled technicians of Leica Camera Inc. (USA) or its authorized agents tampers with the Equipment in a manner other than required by Leica Camera Inc. (USA) for normal operation of the Equipment, any damage thereby resulting to the Equipment shall not be covered by the Leica Lifetime Sport Optics Passport Protection Plan.
2. Recovery under any implied warranty of the merchantability and/or fitness that you may have hereunder is limited to repair or replacement of the Equipment, as provided above.
   II. Any such implied warranty of merchantability and/or fitness is limited to the duration of this warranty. This warranty does not obligate Leica Camera Inc. to reimburse the original purchaser or any user of the equipment for any expenses, loss or other incidental or consequential damages which may arise in connection with any use of the equipment. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, and some do not allow the exclusion of limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.
