Battery information

This product uses a Lithium-ion battery. Do not use it in a humid, wet and/or corrosive environment. Do not put, store or leave your product in or near a heat source, in a high temperature location, in strong direct sunlight, in a microwave oven or in a pressurized container, and do not expose it to temperatures over 60 °C (140 °F). Failure to follow these guidelines may cause the battery to leak acid, become hot, explode or ignite and cause injury and/or damage. Do not pierce, open or disassemble the battery. If the battery leaks and you come into contact with the leaked fluids, rinse thoroughly with water and

seek medical attention immediately. For safety reasons, and to prolong the lifetime of the battery, charging will not occur at low (below 0 °C/32 °F) or high (over 40 °C/104 °F) temperatures.

The full performance of a new battery is achieved only after two or three complete charge and discharge cycles. The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but it will eventually wear out. When the talk and standby times are noticeably shorter than normal, buy a new battery. Use only Acer approved batteries, and recharge your battery only with Acer approved chargers designated for this device.

Unplug the charger from the electrical plug and the device when not in use. Do not leave a fully charged battery connected to the ac charger, since overcharging may shorten its lifetime. If left unused, a fully charged battery will lose its charge over time. If the battery is completely discharged, it may take a few minutes before the charging indicator appears on the display or before any calls can be made.

Use the battery only for its intended purpose. Never use any charger or battery that is damaged.

Do not short-circuit the battery. Accidental short-circuiting can occur when a metallic object such as a coin, clip, or pen causes direct connection of the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of the battery. (These look like metal strips on the battery.) This might happen, for example, when you carry a spare battery in your pocket or purse. Short-circuiting the terminals may damage the battery or the connecting object.

Leaving the battery in hot or cold places, such as in a closed car in summer or winter conditions, will reduce the capacity and lifetime of the battery. Always try to keep the battery between 15 °C and 25 °C (59 °F and 77 °F). A device with a hot or cold battery may not work temporarily, even when the battery is fully charged. Battery performance is particularly limited in temperatures well below freezing.

Do not dispose of batteries in a fire as they may explode. Batteries may also explode if damaged. Dispose of batteries according to local regulations. Please recycle when possible. Do not dispose as household waste.

Replacing the battery pack

Your smartphone uses lithium batteries. Replace the battery with the same type as that which came bundled with your product. Use of another battery may present a risk of fire or explosion.

ACER BeTouch E130 - Replacing the battery pack - 1

FCC regulations

This mobile phone complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

This mobile phone has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiated radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

  • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
  • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
  • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
  • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.

RF exposure warning

The equipment complies with FCC RF exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment.

The antenna(s) used for this transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.

RF exposure information (SAR)

This mobile phone meets the government's requirements for exposure to radio waves.

This phone is designed and manufactured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications Commission of the U.S. Government.

The exposure standard for wireless mobile phones employs a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6 W/kg.

Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions accepted by the FCC with the phone transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. Although the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the phone while operating can be well below the maximum value. This is because the phone is designed to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the poser required to reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower the power output.

The highest SAR value for US model phones as reported to the FCC when tested for use at the ear is 0.818 W/kg and when worn on the body, as described in this user guide, is 0.827 W/kg.

ACER BeTouch E130 - RF exposure information (SAR) - 1

Important: Body-worn measurements differ among phone models, depending upon available enhancements and FCC requirements.

While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various phones and at various positions, they all meet the government requirements.

The FCC has granted an Equipment Authorization for this model phone with all reported SAR levels evaluated as in compliance with the FCC RF exposure guidelines. SAR information on this model phone is on file with the FCC and can be found under the Display Grant section of www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid after searching on FCC ID: HZLDME130 (for US models).

For body worn operation, this phone has been tested and meets the FCC RF exposure guidelines for use with accessories that contain no metal and that position the handset a minimum of 1.5 cm from the body. Use of other accessories may not ensure compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines. If you do not use a body-worn accessory and are not holding the phone at the ear, position the handset a minimum of 1.5 cm from your body when the phone is switched on.

Using your phone with a hearing aid device (US models)

Your device is compliant with the FCC Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) requirements. When some wireless phones are used near some hearing devices (hearing aids and cochlear implants) users may detect a buzzing, humming, or whining noise. Some hearing devices are more immune than others to this interference noise, and phones also vary in the amount of interference they generate. The wireless telephone industry has developed ratings for some of their mobile phones, to assist hearing-device users in finding phones that may be compatible with their hearing devices. Not all phones have been rated. Phones that have been rated have a label on the box. Your device has been tested for hearing aid device compatibility and has an M3 and/or T3 rating.

These ratings are not guarantees. Results will vary, depending on the level of immunity of your hearing device and the degree of your hearing loss. If your hearing device happens to be vulnerable to interference, you may not be able to use a rated phone successfully. Trying out the phone with your hearing device is the best way to evaluate it for your personal needs.

M-Ratings: Phones rated M3 or M4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to generate less interference with hearing devices than phones that are not labeled. M4 is the better/higher of the two ratings.

T-Ratings: Phones rated T3 or T4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to be more usable with a hearing device's telecoil ("T Switch" or "Telephone Switch") than unrated phones. T4 is the better/higher of the two ratings.

ACER BeTouch E130 - Using your phone with a hearing aid device (US models) - 1

Important: This device does not support VoIP. WLAN and Bluetooth do not have voice capability for held-to-the-ear phone service.

ACER BeTouch E130 - Using your phone with a hearing aid device (US models) - 2

Note: Not all hearing devices contain telecoils.

The more immune your hearing aid device is, the less likely you are to experience interference noise from your wireless phone. Hearing aid devices should have ratings

similar to those of phones. Ask your hearing health-care professional for the rating of your hearing aid.

Hearing devices may also be measured for immunity to this type of interference. Your hearing device manufacturer or hearing health professional may help you find results for your hearing device. The more immune your hearing aid is, the less likely you are to experience interference noise from wireless devices.

For additional information about the FCC's actions with regard to hearing aid compatible wireless devices and other steps the FCC has taken to ensure that individuals with disabilities have access to telecommunications services, please go to www.fcc.gov/cgb/dro.

Turning on Hearing Aid Compatibility mode

To turn on HAC, open the Applications menu and tap Settings > Call settings > Hearing aids.

For Canadian users

Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device.

This Class B digital apparatus complies with Canadian ICES-003.

This Category II radiocommunication device complies with Industry Canada Standard RSS-310.

This EUT is compliance with SAR for general population/uncontrolled exposure limits in IC RSS-102 and had been tested in accordance with the measurement methods and procedures specified in IEEE 1528. This equipment should be installed and operated with minimum distance 1.5cm between the radiator and your body.

This device and its antenna(s) must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.

ACER BeTouch E130 - For Canadian users - 1

Note: The county code selection feature is disabled for products marketed in the US/Canada.

Certificate Information (SAR)

This device meets the EU requirements (1999/519/EC) on the limitation of exposure of the general public to electromagnetic fields by way of health protection.

The limits are part of extensive recommendations for the protection of the general public. These recommendations have been developed and checked by independent scientific organizations through regular and thorough evaluations of scientific studies. To guarantee the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health, the limits include a significant safety buffer.

Before radio devices can be put in circulation, their agreement with European laws or limits must be confirmed; only then may the CE symbol be applied.

The unit of measurement for the European Council's recommended limit for mobile telephones is the "Specific Absorption Rate" (SAR). This SAR limit is 2.0 W/kg, averaged over 10 g of body tissue. It meets the requirements of the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) and was included in the European Standard EN 50360 for mobile radio devices. The SAR regulation for mobile telephones is in line with European Standard EN 62209-1. The maximum SAR value is calculated at the highest output level in all frequency bands of the mobile telephone. During use, the actual SAR level is usually much lower than the maximum value, because the mobile telephone works in different output levels. It only transmits with as much output as is required to reach the network. In general the following applies: The closer you are to a base station, the lower the transmission output of your mobile telephone. The tested SAR of this device is as follows:
