SERIES
Now with more depth and more clarity
At KEF, we believe that music should not just reach your ears, but your heart. Our passion for music drives our quest for quality sound, and inspires constant innovation. We develop tools that deliver music faithfully and honestly, in all its glory. We believe that everyone deserves to experience music as it was meant to be heard.

One of life's great joys is to experience the intensity of an outstanding recorded performance in your own space. Q Series speakers by KEF reproduce recordings in high resolution. The sound is natural and accurate, exactly like the original performance:
The Q Series range, now in its eighth iteration, has long delighted those who aspire to fine audio. This edition has been extensively redesigned to enhance the depth and clarity of the sound. Within the collection are sets for every room, budget and taste.
Acoustic excellence is born this way
The latest enhancements to Q Series speakers elevate the range to new levels of quality and enjoyment. The new system design is characterised by repositioned drivers and ports. Materials and components have been rethought, updated. Potential sources of distortion have been eliminated.

This signature innovation places the tweeter in the acoustic centre of the midrange and bass cone, bringing the acoustic ideal of a single point source closer than ever to realisation.
Expect to hear effortlessly sharp, clear highs, sweetly robust midrange and fast and clean bass with minimum distortion at any volume. In short, flawlessly accurate reproduced sound.

Tweeter assembly

natural_image
3D rendered mechanical component with internal mesh structure (no visible text or symbols)After careful consideration and much debate we modified aspects of the Uni-Q driver array that is the centrepiece of Q Series speakers. The decisions of our engineers were informed by computational modelling, followed by many hours of exhaustive laboratory testing under stringent conditions.
Refinements to this generation of Uni-Q driver include a damped tweeter loading tube and a cone neck de-coupler. The cone neck de-coupler reduces output in the cone breakup region to improve high frequency performance.
The cone return has been removed to further improve breakup behaviour by reducing mass at the code edge.
① Damped tweeter loading tube – This reduces any harshness in the lower treble frequencies by more gently terminating the sound produced from the rear.
A word about drums and bass
There's a magnetism in the lower tones. Few can resist the call of a primeval beat echoing from the dawn of humanity. For sheer gut-thumping energy, Q Series speakers will not disappoint. However there's more to bass than raw power. Much more.
The Q Series faithfully reproduces the subtleties of powerful bass instruments. Feel the twangy grunt of a round-wound bass guitar string thumped with a plectrum, the bantone bounce of a kettledrum, the multidimensional majesty of Bach blasted through a massive pipe organ. The nuances of these glories are emphasised with the beefler roll surrounds of the low frequency drivers and ABRs (Auxiliary Bass Radiators).
Low frequency driver

② Cone structure – This innovation reduces cone breakup and improves m-range performance.
③ Suspension – Optimised design allows more movement, better controlled excursion and lower distortion.

⑤ Roll surround – A larger roll surround allows a longer throw with less distortion at high sound pressure levels.

Take it from the top
A long, tall salutation to KEF traditions, the floorstanders represent the height of excellence in the Q Series range. Within each elegant cabinet are numerous enhancements.
The Uni-Q driver is now isolated within a sealed box. The enclosure reduces low frequency load on the Uni-Q and the possibility of intermodulation distortion.
Crossovers are upgraded with low distortion inductors. The optimised design requires only a single pair of binding posts. Elements of the Uni Q driver, ABR and LF driver are constructed with new materials, which subtly enhance performance.
To cater to every spatial challenge faced by the audio system designer, our floorstanders are available in three sizes. Whether the Q550, Q750 or the Q950 model, a Q Series floorstander speaker set fills a room with astonishing sound of blissful purity.
Compact speaker, expansive sound
The remarkable Q Series bookshelf speakers excel when space is limited. In fact the most discerning listener will be pleased by the quality of the sound produced by our junior family members.
To optimise the high resolution sonic image of these speakers we repositioned the Uni-Q driver at the centre of the cabinet. This avoids any possibility of standing waves and reduces resonance within the enclosure. By facing the low frequency port to the rear we reduce the audibility of midrange leakage.
Curious about the possibility of coaxing even more from the port, KEF engineers modelled the geometry with computational fluid dynamics. This led to a flared port that minimises turbulence at high levels and reduces port noise with less low frequency compression.

Hear, there and everywhere
A talented modern sound engineer can take the listener into a rainforest with wildlife above and around... inside the engine room of a doomed steamship... within the royal box at a Viennese opera house. We believe such talent deserves to be heard, and go to great lengths to ensure that an array of Q Series speakers will enable true excellence in surround sound home cinema.
To accurately reproduce a film director's intention, a centre channel speaker is essential. Much of the dialogue and sound effects in a movie are recorded to be produced directly from the front of the screen. Q Series centre speakers are engineered to fulfil this.
A Q Series centre speaker will uplift those subtle nuances of mood and character that define the emotional range of the human voice. Within each cabinet is a Uni-Q driver isolated inside its own enclosure to reduce the possibility of unwanted excursion spillover from the lower frequencies. Flanking the Uni-Q are a low distortion bass unit twinned with an ABR to optimise the home cinema.

Understanding that our products will be in use for many years, and very likely decades. KEF designers seek longevity in style. The sculpted Q Series
Finish epitomises our approach with seamless, sleek cabinets unblemished by visible fittings and jons.
Q Series speakers are coated with a fine satin finish in black or white with matching driver colours. Should you wish to conceal the drivers optional magnetically attached speaker grilles are available. Wall mounting kits are a further option for the bookshelf models.

The search for true sound
KEF, one of the originators of British hi-fi sound was founded in 1961 by Raymond Cooke OBE (1925-1995). It was initially headquartered in a Nissen hut on the premises of Kent Engineering & Foundry (from where the name KEF is derived). Cooke, an ex-BBC electrical engineer was keen to experiment with new materials and technologies in order to create products with superior acoustic quality that could reproduce recordings as natural as the original performance. Made by music lovers from the very beginning, the pioneering inventiveness of KEF loudspeakers was undeniable, and audiophiles around the world have reversed KEF for its innovative, high-performance loudspeakers.
Now in its sixth decade, KEF develops world beating products with its R&D and Engineering still based in Maidstone, Kent Scientific innovation at KEF continues to underwrite its reputation as the audiophiles's ultimate loudspeaker manufacturer.
