Thank you for choosing Silva Cross Trail 3 headlamp. This headlamp can, thanks to the modular design, also be used on a helmet or on a bike handle bar.

Cross Trail 3 and 3X are our first lamps featuring Flow light ^® - a technology that lets you control the light beam by tilting the lamp vertically and varies the light pattern infinitely depending on where you aim the light. Thus the lamp is adaptable for slow or fast activities.

The Cross Trail 3 headlamp packaging consists of the following parts:

BEFORE USE

ADJUST THE HEADBAND

The elastic headband is designed to give a comfortable fit at speed during activities such as running, XC skiing etc. Adjust the headband by moving the sliding buckle to fit it onto your head.

INSERT THE BATTERIES

Open the battery case and insert the four AA batteries. Either Alkaline (Included), Nimh or Lithium batteries can be used. Please note the battery polarity. Do not mix different brands of batteries. Do not mix batteries with different levels of discharge.

If you don't intend to use the headlamp for several months, make sure you remove the batteries from the lamp.

FLEXIBLE BATTERY CARRYING

The battery pack can be carried in multiple ways; for example on the head band, in a pocket, backpack, on the waist or mounted on the bike frame by using the soft case with the integrated strap.

MODULAR SYSTEM

In order to move the headlamp body from the headband to either the helmet bracket or the bike bracket, gently push the lamp upward relative the head plate with head band. Insert the headlamp body in the new bracket and gently press it down until you hear a click sound.

MOUNTING THE HELMET BRACKET

The helmet bracket comes with pre mounted adhesive on the back for easy mounting on any helmet. The adhesive is a polyethylene foam tape developed to not damage or cause any type of weakness to the plastic in your helmet.

Before mounting the helmet bracket on a helmet, make sure the surface is dry and clean. Remove the protective paper from the adhesive tape on the helmet bracket. Gently press the helmet bracket to the helmet.

Depending on helmet type, it might be preferable to use the 4th light mode (Helmet mode - Flow light deactivated), when the Cross Trail 3 is used on a helmet.

With Flow light deactivated you can tilt the lamp in a preferable position without affecting the light beam.

MOUNTING THE BIKE BRACKET

The bike handlebar bracket is developed for use on bike handlebars with a dimension between 25 and 32 mm.

DURING USE

FLOW LIGHT®

The Cross Trail 3 headlamp is equipped with Flow Light ^6 which is a light distribution technology that combines a wide angle flood light with a long reach spot light. If you aim the light beam of the Cross trail 3 close to your feet by rotating the lamp body downward, the light beam will be a wide flood light adapted for slower activities. If you aim the light higher up, further away, the light beam will gradually transform into a long distance spot beam, perfect for higher speed. This unique feature gives the user peripheral or long distance vision depending on the activity or speed. For a runner, cross country skier, mountain biker or night orienteer this translates into less head movement, increased control, better balance and more speed.

SWITCH ON YOUR HEADLAMP

On the side of the headlamp body there is a push button which controls all light modes.

Each press on the button gives you the following light:

1. Turns the headlamp ON with all LEDs in maximum power
2. Medmode
3. Minmode
4. Max mode with Flow light deactivated (helmet mode)
5. Blink
6. Starts over from 1 - Max mode

To turn OFF the headlamp; press and hold the button for 2 seconds.

TEMP CONTROL

The headlamp temperature will increase during use. The headlamp temperature is mainly depending on light mode, ambient temperature and the airflow (speed). The Cross Trail 3 headlamp is equipped with a temperature control function which prevents the headlamp body from overheating by reducing the power to the LEDs. This means that the lower the ambient temperature, the stronger the light output.

Note: Always make sure that the batteries are disconnected when the headlamp is stored in a closed compartment such as a bag, pocket or similar.

BATTERY INDICATION

When the headlamp is turned off a small LED is turned on inside the front of the headlamp to indicate the status of the batteries. The battery status indication LED will be on for 5 seconds after power off.

Green light – Battery in good condition (more than -70% remaining) Red – Battery in poor condition (less than -30% remaining)

LOW BATTERY WARNING

During operation of the headlamp there will be a low battery warning when 25-30% of the battery energy remains. This is done by flashing both LEDs for 1 second and repeated again after 5 seconds.

AFTER USE

MAINTENANCE

To make sure you get maximum performance from your Cross Trail 3 headlamp, clean it regularly with a damp cloth.

Headset cleaning - wash in washing machine at 40 °C.

Headlamp and batteries should be recycled and must not be thrown in the regular trash. Dispose these items in accordance with applicable local regulations.

Silva warrants that, for a period of two [2] years, your Silva Product will be substantially free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Silva's liability under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing the product. This limited warranty extends only to the original purchaser.

If the Product proves defective during the Warranty Period please contact the original place of purchase. Make sure to have your proof of purchase on hand when returning the product. Returns cannot be processed without the original proof of purchase. This warranty does not apply if the Product has been altered, not been installed, operated, repaired, or maintained in accordance with instructions supplied by Silva, or has been subjected to abnormal physical or electrical stress, misuse, negligence or accident. Neither does the warranty cover normal wear and tear. Silva is not responsible for any consequences, direct or indirect, or damage resultant from use of this product. In no event will Silva's liability exceed the amount paid by you for the product. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
