Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone

Enjoy your microphone!
The MXL Team
General Characteristics
The MXL Cr30 has a small profile body with a sleek black chrome finish. It features a 32mm large diaphragm capsule with a fixed cardioid pattern, and a low noise FET preamp with fully balanced transformerless output. In addition it has a 3 position pad (pre attenuation) switch with settings of 0dB, -10dB and -20 dB. The addition of the pad switch enables the use of the microphone with sound sources producing very high sound pressure levels, without overloading the microphones internal circuitry. The MXL Cr30 delivers power and depth to vocals, as well as capturing the clarity and smoothness of instrumental performances. Wired with Mogami cable, the MXL Cr30's fidelity and versatility will ensure it is a favorite in your studio.
Shockmount
The high isolation shockmount may shift during shipping. Simply shift the elastic bands to center the microphone in the assembly. Be sure that the wire clamp does not rest on the chassis of the mount, as this impairs mechanical isolation. Slide the shockmount up the body of the microphone and stop just below the pad switch for the most secure hold.
Contents
Unpack your MXL Cr30 microphone carefully and verify that all of the following items are included:
- MXL Cr30 microphone
- Shockmount
- Flight case
If any of these items are missing or damaged, contact the company from which you purchased the microphone.
Power Requirement
IMPORTANT - This unit requires phantom power at 48 volts, ± 4 volts. Each unit has been thoroughly checked before shipping, so if you do not hear sound, check that the phantom power on your mixer or separate power supply is switched on.
Microphone Cable
This microphone connects to a mixer or preamp via XLR cable (not included). The microphone cable can have a profound effect on the sound of any microphone. Even the finest microphones will sound poor if the interconnect cable allows noise to enter, or causes distortion and loss of
information. Use only the best microphone cable your budget will allow. We recommend Mogami cable for the best results.
Care
Dust and foreign material can degrade the performance of a microphone over time so always store the unit in its case. For vocals closer than 3 ^st , use a pop filter or a foam windscreen to avoid getting moisture on the diaphragm as this can substantially degrade the microphone's performance. Store the microphone in its original packaging in a cool, dry place along with the included packet of silica gel. These steps will help keep the mic in proper working order and sounding its best for many years to come.
