Installation instructions
Transporting
The appliances are heavy and must be secured during transportation and installation.
Becauseoftheweight/dimensions of the appliance and tominimisetherisk of injuries and damage to the appliance at least two persons are necessary to set-up the appliances securely.
Installationlocation
Installtheapplianceinadry,well ventilatedroom.Theinstallation locationshouldneitherbeexposedto directsunlightnornearaheatsource, e.g.acooker,radiator,etc. If installationnexttoaheatsources is unavoidable,useasuitableinsulating plateorobservethefollowingminimum distanceoahatsource:
-3 cmtoelectricorgascookers.
-30 cmtoanoilorsolid-fuelcooker.
Ifinstallingtheappliancenexttoan-otherrefrigeratororfreezer,theremust beaminimumgapof25 mmbetween theappliancesinorderto preventcondensation.
Ifapanelorcupboardisinstalledabove the appliance,ensurethatagapof 30 mmisleftsothattheappliancecan bepulledoutoftherecessifrequired.

- Haveatechnicianinstallandconnect theapplianceaccordingtothe enclosedinstallationinstructions.
- Afterinstallingtheappliance,waitat least1 houruntiltheappliancestarts up.Duringtransportationtheoilinthe compressormayhaveflowedintothe refrigerationsystem.
- Beforeswitchingontheappliancefor thefirsttime,cleantheinteriorofthe appliance(see chapter"Cleaning").

Waterconnection
Thewatermaybeconnectedonly by a competentfitteraccordingtothe localregulationsoftheappropriate watersupplycompany.
Connecttheappliancetoadrinking waterline:

Tasteandodourofthewatermaybe improvedbyinstallingtheenclosed waterfilter. In this case observethe different connection conditions (see chapter "Waterfilter").

Themaximumoutsidediameter of the watermains(withoutconnecting pieces)is 10 mm.
Electricalconnection
Donotuseextensioncablesor distributors. This appliancemustbe connectedtoapermanentlyinstalled socket.
The plugtosecuretheappliance must befreelyaccessible. Connect the applianceto a 220–240 V/50 Hzaccurrentvia a plugwhichhasbeenproperly installed. Thesocketmustbefused witha10 to16Afuseorhigher.
If the appliance is to be operated in a non-European country, check on the rating plate whether the indicated voltage and current type correspond to the values of your main supply. The rating plate is situated in the bottom right-hand side of the appliance. Themains connectionable may be replaced by an electrician only.

Switchingonthe appliance

Pressthe"alarmoff/lock"button. The warningsignalswitchesoff.
The "alarm" display goes out as soon asthesettemperature has been reached.
The preset temperatures are reached after several hours. Donotputanyfood in the appliance beforehand.

Selectingthetemperature

- Selecttherefrigeratorcompartment areawiththe"fridge"buttonuntil "fridge"islitonthedisplaypanel.
- Set the temperature with the + (warmer) or - (cooler) selection buttons.

Thetemperaturecanbesetat1 °Cintervals.
Therefrigeratorcompartment can be setfrom+2 °Cto+8 °C.
Perishable food should not be stored warmer than +4 °C.
Freezer compartment
- Press "freezer" button until "freezer" is lit on the display panel.
- Set the temperature with the + (warmer) or - (cooler) selection buttons.

Thefreezercompartmentcanbeset from-14 °Cto-24 °C.
The value last indicated dissaved by the system.
Warningsignal
In the following cases awarningsignal maysound.
Thedoorwarningsignal
Thedoorwarningsignalsoundsifone oftheappliancedoorsisopenfor longerthanoneminute.Closethedoor toswitchoffthewarningsignal.
Pressthe"alarm off/lock"button to switchoffthewarningsignal.
Temperaturewarning signal
Thetemperaturewarningsignalswitchesonifthefreezerorrefrigerator compartmentistoowarmandthefood isatriskofthawing.
Theacousticandopticalsignalsmay beactuatedwithoutrisktothefrozen foodwhen:
• Theapplianceisswitchedon.
• Largequantitiesoffreshfoodare placedinthefreezer.
Freezercompartment
Thesettemperatureofthefreezer compartmentflashesand"alarm" is displayed.
Pressthe"alarm off/lock"button to switchoffthewarningsignal.

Thetemperaturedisplayindicatesfor 10 secondsthewarmesttemperature whichwasreachedinthefreezer compartment.Thentheset temperatureisdisplayedagain.
The "alarm" displaygoesoutassoon asthesettemperaturehasbeenreached.
Attention!
Donotrefreezefoodwhichhasstarted tothaworalreadythawed.Itcanonly berefrozenwhenithasbeenusedto prepareareadymeal(boiledorfried). Nolongerstorethefrozenproducefor themax.storageperiod.
Refrigeratorcompartment
"alarm" is indicated on the refrigerator compartment display panel.
Pressthe"alarm off/lock"buttonto switchoffthewarningsignal.
Attention!
Iftherefrigeratorcompartmenthas becometoowarm,cookwarmed refrigeratedfoodbeforeconsumption. Ifindoubt,donotuserawfood.
Supercooling
Supercoolingcoolstherefrigerator compartmenttothelowesttemperatureforapprox. 6 hours.Then thetemperaturesetbeforesuper modeisautomaticallyrestored.
Supercoolingisrecommendedespecially:
- Beforeplacinglargequantitiesof foodintherefrigeratorcompartment.
- Tocooldrinksquickly.
Switchonsupercooling
- Selecttherefrigeratorcompartment areawiththe"fridge"buttonuntil "fridge"islitonthedisplay.
- Then press the "super" button. "super" is indicated on the display panel.

Switchingoffsupercooling
Aswhenswitchingonsupercooling, selecttherefrigeratorcompartment area, thenpressthe"super"button. "super" goesoutonthedisplaypanel.
Superfreezing
Foodshouldbefrozensolidasquickly aspossible.Vitamins,nutritionalvalues,appearanceandtastearethereforeretained.
Topreventanundesirabletemperature risewhenplacingfreshfoodinthefreezercompartment,switchonfastfreeze severalhoursbeforehand.
Asarule,4–6 hoursisadequate. If max.freezingcapacityistobeutilised,24 hoursarerequired.
Smallerquantitiesoffoodcanbefrozen withoutsuperfreezing.
Switchingonsuperfreezing
- Select the freezer compartment are with the "freezer" button. "freezer" is lit on the display panel.
- Thenpressthe "super" button. "super" is litonthedisplaypanel.

Switchingoffsuperfreezing
Toswitchoff, pressthe "super" button again.
Superfreezingautomaticallyswitches offafter2½ daysatthelatest.
Selectingthetemperatureunit
Thetemperaturecanbedisplayed in degrees Celsius(°C) or degrees Fahrenheit(°F).
Selectingthetemperatureunit
Holddown "freezer" and "fridge" buttons for 5 seconds.
Depending on the previous setting, the display switch the other temperature unit.
Refrigerator compartment
Therefrigeratorcompartment temperaturecanbeselected from+2 °Cto+8 °C.
Werecommendasettingof+4 °C.
Perishable food should not be stored warmer than 4 °C.
Usingtherefrigerator compartment
Forstorageofcakesandpastries, readymeals,tinnedfood,condensed milk,hardcheese,fruitandvegetables sensitivetothecold:tropicalfruit,e.g. mandarins,bananas,pineapples, melons,avocados,papayas,passion fruit,aubergines,alsofruitwhich requiresfurtherripening,tomatoes, cucumbers,greentomatoes,potatoes.
Whenstoringfood, complywiththefollowing:
-Allowwarmfoodanddrinkstocool downoutsidetheappliance.
- Topreventfoodfromlosingits flavourordryingout,placeinairtight containers.
-Donotblockairoutletopeningswith food,otherwisetheaircirculationwill beimpaired.
-Avoidcontactofoilandfatwiththe plasticpartsanddoorseal.
-Storehigh-percentagealcoholtightly closedandstandingup,donotstore anyexplosivesubstancesinthe appliance.

Vegetable compartmentwith humidityfilter
The humidity drawer is covered by a special filter which allows the air to pass through but retains the humidity.
Ahighairhumiditykeepsleafy vegetablesfreshforlonger.Vegetables andfruitshouldbestoredataslightly lowerairhumidity.
The air humidity in the vegetable drawers depends on the amount of stored food.
If the air humidity is too high, drips may form and caused decay.

The following products are suitable for sealing the wrapped food:
Rubberbands, plasticclips, string, cold-resistantadhesivetapeorsimilar. Bagsandpolyethyleneblownfilmcan besealedwithafilmsealer.
Shelflifeoffrozenfood
Storagedurationdependsonthetype of food. Atatemperaturesetting of -18°C:
- Fish, sausage, readymealsand cakesandpastries: upto6months
- Cheese, poultry and meat: upto 8 months
• Vegetablesandfruit: upto12months
Purchasing and storingdeep-frozen food
When purchasing frozen food, observe the following:
- Check that the packaging is not damaged.
- Checkthesell-bydate.
- Thetemperatureofthesupermarket freezershouldbe–18°Corlower. If not, theshelflifeofthefrozenfood isreduced.
- Purchasedeep-frozenfoodlast. Wrapfoodinnewspaperorplacein a coolbagandtakehome.
- Athomeimmediatelyplace deep-frozenfoodinthefreezer compartment. Consumethefrozen foodbeforetheuse-bydateexpires.
Thawingfrozenfood
Dependingonthetypeandappliacation, selectoneofthefollowingoptions:
-Atroomtemperature.
-Intherefrigerator.
-Inanelectricoven, with/without fan assisted hot-air.
-Inamicrowaveoven.
Note
Donotrefreezefoodwhichisbeginningtothaworwhichhasalreadythawed. Thefoodcannotberefrozenuntilhas beenprepared(boiledorfried).
Nolongerstorethefrozenproducefor themax.storageperiod.
Iceandwaterdispenser
The following can bed dispensed as required:
- cooledwater,
- crushedice,
- icecubes.
Warning
Neverreachintotheicecube dispenseropening!Riskofinjury!
Attention!
Donotplacebottlesorfoodinthecube containerinordertocoolthemquickly. The icemakermayblockand be damaged.
Usingtheiceandwater dispenser
Theiceandwaterdispenseronlyworks whentheapplianceisconnectedtothe watermains.
When the appliance has been switched on, it takes approx. 24 hours until the first batch of rice cubes are ready.
Whentheappliancehasbeenconnected,therearestillairbubblesin the lines.
Runoffdrinkingwaterandpouraway untilwatercanbedispensedwithout bubbles.Pourawaythefirst5 glasses.

Operatingtheicemaker
Whenthefreezercompartmenthas reacheditsfreezingtemperature,water flowsintotheicemakerandfreezes intoicecubes. Whentheicecubesare ready,theyareautomaticallydischargedintotheicecubecointainer.
Occasionallythesidesoftheicecubes sticktogether. Whentheyareconveyed totheoutletopening, theyusually breakawayfromeachother.
Whentheicecubecontainerisfull,ice makingswitchesoffautomatically.
Theicemakercanmakeapprox. 100 icecubeswithin24 hours.
Whenicecubesarebeingmade, the buzzingwatervalve, the waterflowing into the ice cubetray and the falling ice cubescanbeheard.
Observingdrinkingwater quality
Allmaterialsusedinthedrinksdispenser areodourlessand tasteless.
Ifthewaterhasanaftertaste, this may becaused by:
-Mineralandchlorinecontentofthe drinkingwater.
–Materialofthedomesticwaterlineor connectionline.
-Freshnessofthedrinkingwater. If waterhasnotbeendispensedfor a longtime,thewatermayhave a "stale"taste.In thiscasedispense approx. 15 glassesofwaterand pouraway.
Tasteandodourofthewatermaybe improvedbyinstallingtheenclosed waterfilterinthewatersupply.
Theenclosedwaterfilterwillfilteronly particlesoutofthesupplywater,not bacteriaormicrobes.
Dispensingice/water
- Selecttheiceandwaterdispenser button(water,crushediceorice cubes).
- Keeppressingthebuttonuntilthe requiredquantityisintheglass.

Toswitchtheiceandwaterdispenser onandoff, pressthe"freezer" and "super" buttonfor5 seconds. When the function is switched off, "IWDoff" is litonthedisplaypanel.
Waterfilter
Attention!
Donotusetheapplianceinplaces wherethewaterqualityisriskyor notsufficientlyknownaboutwithout suitabledisinfection,beforeand afterfiltering.
Afiltercartridgeforfilteringparticles canbeobtainedfromcustomer service.
Thewaterfiltersshouldbereplacedafter sixmonthsatthelatest.
Importantinformation concerningthewaterfilter
- Afteruse, the watersystem is subject to low pressure. Becareful when removing the filter!
- Rinsethewatersystemthroughif the appliancehasnotbeenusedfor a longperiod,orifthewatertastesor smellsunpleasant.Inadditiontothis, drawwaterfromthewaterdispenser forseveralminutes.Ilftheunpleasant tasteorsmellpersistsexchangethe filtercartridge.
